It's subjective, as I don't know of a measure that quantifies 'disruptiveness'. If you guys didn't think he was disruptive for a true frosh last year, so be it. I thought he was. I do not have any evidence to submit to the court. It is only my opinion based on what I saw of him last year.

Just so we are clear.

These comments have been said by others above, but I had thought that the Hayes-not-playing situation was clearly due to two things: a). an attempt to rectify the previous plan for him to get a redshirt year when we had to blow one last season due to all our injuries; and b). the somewhat surprising fact that Sheldon can "go all day" at the DT position that mirrors Hayes' playing spot, along with getting sort-of spells when Rochell moves inside or we go three-man front, and if necessary people like Matuska are available for a bench blow.

Hayes thinking that the "coach has stopped coaching" him should be an overreaction to the coach spending his precious game week time working with the two-deep, which a redshirting player is not. If that is what Hayes is complaining about [assuming that we are even interpreting these ridiculously non-contextual tweets correctly], then he's just being immature about his status currently. If he can't see that this is a ploy by Kelly and BVG to turn him into Sheldon Day next year and beyond, then he's blowing a huge opportunity.

Is Hayes actually being redshirted this year? I hadn't seen that reported anywhere. If so, you'd think he'd have to be on board or else they wouldn't do it (I mean, it's up to him to come back for a fifth year on the back end).
If not, sure, he's stuck behind the best defensive lineman we've got, but we should really get him on the field, both for his experience and to give Day a rest. Unless of course there's in-the-doghouse stuff we don't know about. Like airing your gripes on Twitter.
Either way, he's not a player you really want to see walk.

hasn't been determined or at least mentioned by BK..he was questioned regarding him and blankenship not playing any snaps thus far and he just stated about having talent in front of them...but also showing up in practice---not specific words but needing consistency

Our DL has been playing pretty good, and if the two of Hayes, and Blankenship haven't been getting better on practice, then they're not going to see the field. I don't know what's going on, and these two, almost HAD to play as frosh.... so maybe this season they're allowing them to mature at a better pace, and not seeing results yet.

What a damn baby. This is what pisses me off about this world, always running to social media to express your feelings so people will feel bad for you.

Plus this isn't the first time he's used Twitter to tell everyone how he's feeling about ND. Dude, no one cares.

I think it sucks that he's not getting PT, but if it's because Day is in beast mode, then so be it. Hard to feel bad for a kid who's going to air locker room dirty laundry on social media.

Love the fact that he is so positive about UND winning a national championship

I think he's just an overly emotional guy that hasn't figured out the correct ways to vent. He was standing on the bench at the end of the UVA game trying to pump up the ND fans. Doesn't sound like a guy that's checked out.

Hayes needs to learn to shut the hell up on social media.

Why do kids nowadays feel the need to use Twitter as an online journal of their inner most feelings?

It kind of supports the thought that he's an emotional guy who wears his feelings on his sleeve. In that moment, he was hyped. In this moment, he's frustrated with PT. Either way, he better get his $hit together or else he'll find himself in BK's doghouse (if he's not already) and we all know it's a lot harder to get out of it than in it...

100% agree.

I cannot for the life of me figure out that he cant see light at the end of a short tunnel. Day is gone after this year. There will be plenty of playtime for him. If he transfers anywhere but a D2 school, he will sit another year anyhow. And then he would be getting a subpar degree to boot. Makes no sense. Either he is just rattling chains for noise or is a complete idiot. Im not ruling out either or.

I would like to think a call home to mama would cure all of this once she starts pulling on his ear and straighten him out in his priorities.

Plenty of leadership on this team to help Jay pull his head out of his ass. ND is 3-0 playing their hearts out for their teammates and the university and this is how Jay wants to respond to his own perceived adversity? There is no room for the weak minded and selfish in that locker room and I'm sure a captain/upperclassmen will address this before a coach ever has to get involved.

I met this young man outside the stadium after the Louisville game last season. One of the absolute nicest people I have ever encountered. He Was super cool to our 4 boys that were there. I hope he gets over his frustration and sticks it out.

My guess is that he's probably upset that he got some playing time last year and isn't getting it this year.

These guys grow up at different rates and Jay is still finding out what it means to be a man.

A man doesn't complain to the world, a man doesn't feel like a victim, a man wakes up every morning and goes to work to get better. He has to realize he is the only one controlling his life and he must take responsibility for everything.

Jay just needs a reminder: Work hard, stay focused and don't allow entitlement to creep in. When your time comes, you'll capture it.

Or you won't.

Man we are turning out to be Transfer U and Out for the year due to injury U.

I am so tired of both of them. Man, we gotta catch a break some time.

Gunner, Williams, Wallace, Everett, Hardy, Vanderdoes, Lynch, Hill, Neal, Evans, etc

Injury: Drue x 2, Jones, Schmitt, Grace, Gray, KLM, Crawford, Smythe, Folson, Collingsworth, etc.

Crazy. Wish we could be on the better side of all this.

Man, you really need to see someone about your overall view of life. I just looked through all of your posts because I had a subconscious association between you and negative posts and my goodness, the first page didn't contain a single positive or excited feeling about our team.

We could be much worse right now, there are still things to be excited about. Yeah, we have a MASH unit going on but we also have some gamers on this team and they haven't completely dropped the ball, as we're sitting at 3-0 after playing 3 straight FCS schools, one who was favored to beat us in our house.

Not to nitpick, but I'm totally gonna nitpick. I think you mean FBS.

Kids are too short sighted. I was at his age. Honestly if he redshirts this year and gets 3 years of being a starter, or major contributor, how is that a bad thing. Best case he plays amazing and leaves early for the NFL. Worst case he plays major minutes for 3 years and get his ND degree, plus a masters, and 5 years of the best time of his life instead of 4 years. Stay the course Jay.

I think it's more being immature, impatient and the need for immediate gratification, but I get your point. It's probably tough on some of these guys going from being the BMOC in HS, to being surrounded by 85 BMOC's every day.

Olympia is the worst. And that's all I got to say about that.
