@NDsidBertschy: Tarean Folston underwent successful ACL surgery last Thursday in Florida. He returned to campus last night & started rehab this morning.
2017 draft will feature Chubb, Fournette, Cook, Perine.. maybe is not a bad idea.
This contradicts BK saying he doesn't know what's going on.

I don't think this is a big deal and here is why. First, it doesn't matter where he gets his surgery, all surgeons are going to be pretty competent, by and large. Maybe he had a family member who knew a great surgeon whom they trusted very much; a doctor-patient relationship is important. Second, having an ACL tear surgery is tough business. It's hard work recovering and in the immediate aftermath of the surgery, getting around is tough. Maybe he's closer to home where family can take care of him and mom can make him some home cooking while he recovers. We don't know the full extent of his injuries, but say he had a meniscus repair, he would have to be off of his feet for a certain time period. Being in dorms makes that very, very difficult. It makes sense to try and recover at home in the short term, and not in a dorm where you have to go down a long hallway just to use the bathroom.
The sky is not falling. There are plenty of reasons that, should this rumor even be true, would not be cause for any concern.
Looks like Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery
Not to rip Folston but through three weeks of the season could you imagine Prosisie and Folston as a 1-2 duo. As good as anybody IMO, I'm just not sure if Folston would be putting up the video game numbers like CJ is.
Probably not, he'd be splitting carries with CJ. Where as CJ is carrying the bulk.
The way CJ is running tho, could you really kept him off the field as the season went on?See I see Folston carrying the bulk of the load to keep the hits of Folston. Folston being thunder and CJ being lighting because he is so dynamic in the open field.

No, but you can tell he needs those breaks just like any great running back. It would be a great duo, I just don't think Adams is ready for big time college football yet. But CJ doesn't get those chances if Folston hurts so I doubt he would be putting up those goofy numbers like he is now.
Its apparent that CJ has a knack for running in this zone blocking scheme. He's very patient as he works in the hole, lets the OL work their combo blocks and keeps his feet moving. Because of his size and strength he doesn't go down in the hole with arm tackles and as soon as the blocks are set he's out. However, where I think Folston would come in very handy is the short yardage situations. CJ just hasn't quite developed that part of the game to the degree that Folston had. Folston became quite a good at, even on outside zones, putting his foot in the ground/head down and picking those up.

True. I would like the younger backs to get more carries at this point. Run them till they cost us a drive, or turn it over. Get them some experience and have them ready.

He wouldn't be better than the 5th back taken this year. He wouldn't be taken at all, which would make him the 15th back in the class, at best?
Hearing that Dr. Andrews did the surgery and he's back at school answers all of my questions. I think ND wanted to have their people do the surgery and Folston wanted to protect his future by having the best guy do it. It's too bad that the speculation about his leaving school was forwarded as a way to try to undermine his decision but unfortunately that stuff happens.

Interesting... Here is a question for those with more knowledge on sports medicine... what happens if the ligaments that are fused in together in place of the torn AC tear latter down the road??
The gif provided shows reconstructive surgery using a patellar tend graft (where they cut off a section of the patellar tendon to use as the new ACL). If this graft were to tear, they would redo the surgery using a new graft, most likely from a cadaver, although it is possible they would use a hamstring graft.
Here's to a successful surgery and rehab TF!
A graft from the patellar tendon is the preferred option. Hamstring grafts tend to cause more issues with hamstring strains on down the line. Using cadavers is the worst because there's the body's nature defense mechanisms that want to reject what it perceives as foreign material.
Last night the team could have really used his experience, vision and tough running. Damn shame
