Since Malik is a lefty, he's already the blind side tackle..

Far be it from me to act as an expert on this. But I believe both Sanford and Kelly have stated that we are running a "left-handed quarterback" in a "right-handed offense." And part of it has to do with being able to insert a right-handed backup.

Someone else the understands more than I had to have heard these references. Please feel free to take over and explain!

That doesn't change Malik's throwing stance which means big Mike is the blindside tackle. The most ambidextrous, handedness-neutral scheme can't change the stance a left handed QB takes when he throws, unless you roll him opposite his throwing arm every single play.

Regardless of offense, the blindside side is always to the QB's back, so RT is the blindside even in a right-handed offense.

Wat? Explain, please. When a right handed QB is in his stance, ball loaded and ready to throw, he's turned slightly to his right with his back facing left (Hence the LT is protecting his "blind side."). When a left handed QB is in his stance, ball loaded and ready to throw, he's turned slightly to his left with his back facing right (Hence McClinchey is protecting Malik's "blind side.")

I'm not sure what you're talking about here.

I think you both agree but are saying it differently. Because the statement was made that we are playing "a left handed QB in a right-handed offense" he was emphasizing that the blind side refers to the QB's back side and that will be RT regardless of the offense we run since Malik is left handed.

I believe he's referencing Malik being left-handed in a "right-handed offense". In this scenario, the blind side would be the RT, not the LT, since Malik's back is to the right side.

Kelly said something about this being a "right handed offense," whatever that means. Bogs took that to mean that the left tackle was technically the "blind side," as the backside of the handedness of the offense irrespective of the handedness of the QB. Irish#1 explained to Bogs that it's the handedness of the quarterback that determines what the "blind side" is, not the orientation of the offense (again, whatever that means). So you both agree.

Now, if someone can explain what Kelly means when he said it's a right-handed offense in the first place, that'd be great.

Maybe roll outs and other directional facets would be reversed from how they would be run with a right-handed QB? I dunno, I'm grasping at straws here.

Left hand is satanic.
This is a Catholic school, ergo right handed offense.

IF Kizer is the man next year, do you move your most proven OT to the blind side? Do you flip flop him and Bars as the QB's go through their competition?

Is it fair to leave McGlinchey at RT given the NFL pays top $ for LT's? How would you feel about it if you were McG and you took the economics into account?

He will be a 1st Rounder in the 17' draft. So happy he had his dad turn around after leaving his visit to come back and commit to the good guys!

If he takes the next step or if he simply has another year like this... good chance he never sees '17.

Yeah, next year's draft is the 16' one. He will be in school still. I don't see him staying after next season, so 17' is the draft year I am referring to.

McGlinchey and Nelson would be an insane left side.

I think it really just depends on Bars though. His spring will be one to watch. Will he even be healthy by then?

Lol, I know. I always get confused when looking at the hoops recruiting rankings. Always too far ahead for me to follow. No worries bro, you just had me unsure about what year we are currently in lmao.

Obviously want the best player to play, but I hope that player is Bivin. That adds size to an already massive OL.

Would prefer Mike to stay at his current position. The difference between LT and RT is not what it once was thought to be.

Possibly dictated by who wins the QB battle.

Understand what you are saying, but Kelly repeatedly states that Zaire will be a left-handed quarterback, running a right handed offense.

What is important to me, is that there is some awesome competition between Bivin and Bars. More so than who starts. But remember Kelly describes Bars as the kind of talent he rarely if ever sees.

Bars will likely be starting anyways at Guard if Elmer quits.

McGlichey, Nelson, Mustipher/Hoge, Bars, Bivin.

I hope Bars is the same after the injury. A broken foot for a big man is no joke, and it happened real late in the year. Wonder how he's progressing.
