I hope after GA III (Cut today also) and Daniels, some of these elitist, former NFL progeny realize that your name can only get you so far. Both kids had all the athleticism in the world, but they failed to do the little things right, to hone their craft, or apply themselves in the classroom. It's biting both of them in the butt today.
Which is fascinating, because Corey Robinson is the biggest RKG there is.

Why is that fascinating? Did I miss David Robinson's NFL career?
I'm talking about the tendency of rich athletes' kids to be prima donnas. Inflated egos and self-importance isn't unique to the NFL.

I think Corey is the exact opposite. Sure, he could have fit in with the prima donna former pro athlete spawn crowd, but he seems humble and dedicated to improving his game. He's gotten better at route running. His hands weren't quite as good last season as previous years, but that may have been due to the thumb injury. I'm sure Irish fans know that Fuller is the bigger star, but a lot of scouts were looking at Robinson in the off season.

That, and I think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. George Atkinson II and Philip Daniels certainly seemed egotistical and self centered, David Robinson has shown very little of that in the way he supports his son and shows up at every game. So cool to see the Admiral on the sidelines each week, although it gets a bit old when the announcers point it out every game.

Wishful thinking. Kids with big ego's whether sons of former players or not, hear and see these things all the time, but never think it will happen to them. They always think they're better.

We might be throwing these guys under the bus?

I wouldn't look at it like that. They likely made bad decisions for their future by not staying in school one more year and working on improving themselves. Neither one of them was really "NFL ready," they were basically unpolished athletes that relied on their legs and arms, but not their heads. GAIII never learned to be a running back with the way he ran the ball, and Daniels never worked on improving his routes or working on his consistency. I think anyone could see they weren't ready except for themselves. If it wasn't for their famous names they likely wouldn't have even been invited. Now, unless either guy gets a lucky break or manages to really work on their fundamentals, they're going to be out of the NFL and with no degree. Can't see any positives in that for anyone.

I agree with Ulukinatme. Pointing out that making a bad decision isn't throwing someone under the bus. Back when GAIII and DD announced they were leaving I like many others had posted that this was a bad idea. I wish no ill will and hope they are successful in their lives, but it was obvious it would never be in the NFL given the left early with a number of flaws in their games. Maybe they can hook up with the CFL and hone their skills where they might get another shot in 2-3 years.

I thought GAIII saw the writing on the wall. He wasn't a great RB and knew his position would continue to fall back. If he wanted to make it to the NFL, I don't think he had a decision. His stock was as high as it would ever be the year he came out.

DD rarely looked hungry but I'm just saying maybe we should be careful saying they acted entitled. Obviously people are free to express their thoughts on our previous players.

Maybe 2013 was the best year for GA III to come out. He had lost ground to Cam. Cam was my back that year as Tarean was still learning the position, Bryant was injured and didn't have his head right, and GA III couldn't learn to be a running back. I was in GA III's corner at the beginning of the season though. I thought he had learned to stay low in camp and work on finding the hole. The previous year Kelly said Atkinson was good enough to be a starter but was playing behind two great players in Cierre and Riddick. All that changed as the season started though. George fell back into his old habbits of running high, he struggled to find the hole at times, and he did a piss poor job fighting for extra yards after initial contact. He was a track star, and he went down as soon as he was hit.

I will say I was glad that he moved on before 2014 because I thought Cam was the better every down back, and Tarean was budding into a monster by the end of 2013. I didn't want Atkinson to take carries away from either guy if he wasn't going to improve. That's exactly what he needed to do before he went to the NFL though, improve. He wasted his talent, imo.

I won't bet that he's signed by start of season, but I bet he gets signed at some point this year and finished the year, barring injury.

Actually WTH, I'll be that he signs by week 1. LMK what you want to bet!

I only have one-hundred million. It's not much compared to your one trillion, but I'm willing to go all in!

I'm sad to say that I was right, and he's still jobless. At least when it comes to professional football.

had a nice game the other night for Calgary
Blocked a first quarter punt and then caught a TD in the same half. Had over a 100 yards receiving. He's pretty much in a starting role for them. Pleasantly surprized how keyed in he looked.

Good for DD. His time at ND didn't end how I had hoped but I'd still like to see him succeed.

Yeah I didn't even know he was playing here. I don't follow the CFL that much but I caught a few highlights of the game and saw his TD.

Good for him. I wish him all the best.

Calgary is actually a pretty cool city. I used to live there. It's the business hub for the Canadian oil industry. Lots of money there and they love football.

How does one go about living in North Dakota??? I could see if you're from Texas but North Dakota is practically Canada. I'm not that far north.

I was born and raised here. Calgary is a great place to live. It just got ranked for the 7th year in a row as the 5th best place to live in the world according to The Economist.

Calgary retains Top 5 ranking in world’s most liveable cities

Vancouver and Toronto also made the top 10 list. I didn't see Fargo on that list or any American city for that matter. Great show though. They actually film it just outside Calgary.

Not sure how to embed all his tweets but he's been ripping BK apart on Twitter recently. He seems really bitter.

This dude has zero credibility. Between him and his pain is the ass father, i was thrilled when he left school.

This was covered the other day in one of the 50 fire someone threads. There may be some weight to what he's saying, but it's hard to take it for anything considering the source.

Does the fact that he has 'zero credibility' in some folks eyes, make what he is saying untrue?

Just wondering.

The worst recruiting move Kelly ever made was lobbying the administration to let him in.

We've got a guy who caused the most embarrassing academic scandal in this school's history... one that could still lead to sanctions, and cost us a handful of starters... talking about accountability and blame. That's rich.

Daniels is a total doucher... I feel like you can't turn your back on your former program like that, regardless of how your time ended, but that's a debate for a different day.

HOWEVER. He's not the only one driving the "Kelly is a blame-shifter" narrative right now. There are a lot of people speaking out or adopting that belief now. His post-Duke presser killed him in the eyes of a lot of ND-centric reporters.

In "Some folks" eyes. Did you read IrishLax's post. The worst recruiting scandal in history. So . . .Yeah . . . He's a piece of $h!t

The guys (Kelly) got a hundred 18 - 22 year old knuckle heads telling him how it should be & they ain't won $h!t . . . ever.

Ever hear how sweet Jim Harbaugh is or how kind Nick Saban can be. NO! that's because you can't be. You'll become a little piece of $h!t & then get eaten for breakfast by Shooter McGavin.
