This is what I've been craving.

I'll give Lax 20.5 on a half to half bet.

ulukinatme gets the 12.5

No bets from me  I think they'll be improved, but it's impossible to say how they'll come out of the gate given this is the first game of the year, they may play Heard more than Swoopes, and this is a night game.

I'm moderately hyped for Notre Dame football but absurdly hyped for college football generally. I was screaming and fist-pumping for North Dakota State at Montana, so I'm all in. Unfortunately, the Saturday slate is pretty shitty and the Alabama game overlaps with Notre Dame, but the Ohio State game on Monday will be a little bonus treat.

Is this guy serious?

As a famous Bear Bryant Alabama running back said in an interview: "Coat Brynt say: we get ball; we gone."

Coat Kelly say same thing. I believe.

Let's put it this way. My Notre Dame excitement scale is like 1 to 15 and I'm a 13 excited, so like 87%. My college football excitement scale is only 1 to 10 but I'm a full 10. So I'm still more excited for Notre Dame in raw terms, but as a percentage of my excitement capacity, I'm especially pumped for CFB in general.

I don't think Texas is very good yet, but the problem with playing them in week 1 is that they don't know they aren't good.

True. I think Texas could still be about a year away from being very good, but they're not going to roll over for this one at all. We certainly won't either, and I think we're in a better position from a roster standpoint and that will win the day. A lot of people are overlooking Texas because of how they finished the season. 2015 is a new year though, and Strong has trimmed a lot of fat from that program. They will be good sooner or later, as long as they don't can him first.

The biggest thing to me is that their defense wasn't bad last year, and could be better this year... or worse. We don't really know, but we do know what kind of coach Strong is.

So the reason they were terrible last year was that their offense was horrendous. What happens if this new offense is good? Well, all of a sudden they playing like a top 20 team... a game that we would expect to be much closer than the 10 point line out there right now.

I am jacked up for college football more than I am for ND football. I like flying under the radar with my feelings when it comes to ND football. I've been disappointed too many times so my expectations never get extraordinary high.

I honestly can't wait to watch Michigan, Thursday night. JH is a nut but I've always liked him. I'm interested to see what he will be able to do with the players he has. I have already told my friends that this is the first and only game I will be rooting for Michigan. MSU, Friday night will be another fun game to watch, even though it's WMU.

Can't wait till Saturday night, though. I'm predicting we will dominate in the first 10 mins of the game and slowly die down while Texas makes a comeback. The 2nd half we will either sneak by or we will dominate. I think there is a zero chance that we lose this game, but anything can happen with ND. Pretty all over the place but like I said my expectations never reach the stars.

34-24 ND

I'm fairly confident that a team that lost 5 offensive linemen since last season isn't going to be good in the first game of the year. Especially with Swoopes as their QB. Just my opinion.

...unproven QB can make things a little bumpy. No Tommy to fall back on here...

If MZ takes care of the football, gets a couple first downs with his legs, and doesn't try to force the deep ball, ND will eventually outpace Texas. Turnovers are huge, especially early...and O-line play has got to be way better than last year.

Malcolm Brown and Jordan Hicks were a big reason why they had a good defense last year, I don't expect them to be much of anything on defense. I expect this to be a Texas team that makes a good play then follows it with 2 or 3 head scratchers.

That's better than I thought... I think.

I don't know. My brain hurts.

I'm amped and think we win at least 10 games if we stay healthy in key spots. However, one more injury to a DL who's in the 2 deep and I'll expect an 8 win season depending on when the injury happens. And I don't like our odds considering we play 2 option teams, but who knows. With luck on injuries we win 11.

Texas has booted high recruit after high recruit off this team for two years... No way they are a top 20 team...

ND wins big and finally people can put the nerves away and enjoy a fun season

They certainly have, but they still have 32 4/5 star players in their 2-deep.

Notre Dame has 33...

Full on hyped for CFB, I'm with Wiz on Irish excitement. 80% excited 20% nervous or something like that.

Please let Michigan lose their season opener, please let all of their commits defect and please let Harbaugh give an Asbergers-inspired post game talk that leaves even the most ardent supporter befuzzled.

Then, let Wiscy knock off Bama, (my apologies to our Tide brethren) and let us put on a great show to start the season and leave the game without injury. I'd love to see a 250+ yard ground game and a few big pass plays to keep future defenses honest.

GO IRISH!

I would think of any team in the nation, that ND has the best chance defending the option after playing against it year in, year out. There is no excuse for the coaching staff not having tons of ideas how to shut that down. So honestly, the option does not scare me at all. ND has superior players to every team on our schedule with the possible exception of USC so there really is zero reason to think three losses. Three losses is failure IMHO and short of a very good excuse like last year losing everyone to injury, the coaching staff has zero excuses. As I have posted before, ND hasnt had this loaded of a team since Holtz returning starter wise. For ND to lose to teams with half the returning starters just makes no sense. I realize that returning starters doesnt always mean 100% success but what else is there to gauge potential success if not that?

To be clear, I think we win both games. What I was saying I 'didn't like' was our chance of NOT losing another DL, partly because it's simply a long season and also that play 2 option teams.

Georgia Tech scares me to death. With the way their offense finished out the season I think everyone should be at least a little worried. Not only is their offense a run-away train, but I believe there's a better chance to rack up injuries in this game than against Navy.

Virginia Tech beats Georgia Tech most of the time, limiting them to about 21 points per game. Bud Foster does it with two hard-working DTs, island cover corners, and speed everywhere else. I believe that we have the first two, and most of the third. It's up to BVG to get the speed slashing in right directions/lanes on the pitch part of the option. It's almost impossible to turn the corner on VA Tech in any year, so for them it's bashing the QB keep.

While I agree, didn't they lose like their top 4 rushers and a WR?

That system is an equalizer. Navy has never needed elite talent to take teams to the last second. Even if GT lost all 11 offensive starters you'd still have to think they have more talent than Navy, and Navy gashes us on a regular basis.

I don't know, I'm overly confident that we will smash Texas by halftime and I'm worried that we will lose to Georgia Tech. Luckily the games still get played and I have zero bearing on them
