May not translate well to the pro game but their defensive front seven has been tops in college football for nearly a decade.

They do exactly what Saban wants them to do in the 3-4. And to be fair Jesse Williams would have gone much higher if he had knees after his college career was over. But LSU, for example, has had 7 defensive linemen drafted in the top 3 rounds since 2011.

Front seven though. Again, I'm not saying that teams like LSU, TCU, MSU, etc don't have a case. I'm just stating that my opinion is that Alabama has had the most dominating front seven in the last decade. They've turned out some decent LBs in that time frame as well lol.

Their linebackers have arguably been better.

Why argue? Can't we all just get along?

Seriously, what is this with "arguably?"

Does it mean, "not really," "I think so but don't want to say it out loud," or is it a reference to an actual dispute overheard, that is being reported? I always wanted to know.

"We have yet to go to Notre Dame, we haven't been to Stanford, we haven't been to USC," Coney said. "He's interested in UCLA. There's a lot of schools out there we haven't been to.

I don't even know why we have a recruiting profile for this kid. Has he ever mentioned ND ever since he announced that he received the offer???

I'm with T-Town. Since when has scUM won a battle with Bama for a DT? Hell, even when it's surefire thing, they end up losing.

Pretty sure the Gary family and Wimbush family are very close. I could be wrong, but it seems like a case of his mom appreciating what ND offers, but Rashan wanting to be elsewhere. They've been trying to get him on campus all summer with no success.

If Michigan can get to 9 wins and be competitive in a bowl game(long shot), I wouldn't be surprised if he went there. Harbaugh basically hired Rashan's old high school coach for that reason. On the flip side, fvck Michigan.

If Gary were to sign today then I think he would pick UM. It does appear they are the school to beat right now.

Since the two mothers are close and speak often. It all sounds good but the reality is they have't scheduled an OV or made it to campus so until that happens I give it 0% chance of happening.

I dont think that he ends up at UM i think this is one of those situations that Michigan always gets in. Similar to Tredwell where they lead for a majority of the recruitment but then one of the powers from the South turns up the heat and steals him. I would put my money on either Auburn or Georgia.

Agreed, but I would replace the "v" with a "u"!

will he end up at Michigan? Who knows. Every recruiting situation is fluid and unique in and of itself. Can't really compare one to the other.

Yes, Michigan lost Hand to Bama, and a big part of that reason was academics. The kid was dead set on going to school for engineering. At Michigan he wouldn't have been able to be admitted to the engineering school as an undergrad, and they couldn't guarantee him admission to said engineering school as a grad student. He'd have to apply and hope he got in. I believe this is also a problem they run into with recruits wanting to go to the Ross Business school as well. Hoke and company tried to sell him on some sports management program, but the Hand wasn't having it. This won't be a problem that arises for Michigan in their pursuit of Gary unless he's said he wants to be an engineer or go to business school.

Lots of positive for Michigan in the Gary recruitment. The biggest one is obviously Chris Patridge, his former HS coach at Paramus Catholic working on the football staff. There are also two kids from Paramus Catholic on the Michigan roster, one of which is RS Frosh Jabrill Peppers, probably the biggest recruit to ever come out of New Jersey- Mike Farrell of Rivals words, not mine. Michigan also has 4 kids from NJ committed in this class and are in on a couple more in the 2016 class and a bunch more in the 2017 and 2018 classes. I don't think the NJ connection helps a lot, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have a bunch of familiar faces that he's played with/against in HS at Michigan. I think the biggest factor will be Patridge angle and playing time. At Michigan he'll play right away. Not sure that is the case at a school like Bama which is absolutely loaded along the defensive line.

So you're saying that if Gary wants to get a serious degree, as opposed to majoring in sports management or kinesiology, Michigan will lose him to a lesser academic institution?
If football players don't go to Michigan because they can't major in what they want to study, honestly I think that says more about Michigan than it does about the other schools or players involved.

Why didn't you drop by after our teams danced last season? It would've been sooooo much fun :)

Curious minds want to know. I likewise would like an explanation for that one. I freely admit I know little about Alabama's engineering program. It's my understanding that Auburn's is better from the people I talked to.

That being said I don't know why a football recruit would want to do engineering while playing football ( Mad Props to Tranquill). The undergrad math work alone was ridiculous. I had to take Dynamics and Electrical Engineering Intro in one summer session and that was brutal. I would not wish that on my worst enemy.

Gary's mother, Jennifer Coney, told NJ.com that the nation's top defensive lineman in the 2016 recruiting class wants to visit Notre Dame and USC before naming his top five schools.
"Rashan wanted to have his top choices by now, however, he does not," Coney said in the report. "Rashan still wants to take some visits. He's down to like a top 7 so far, but now we're going to USC. So our plan is to go. Before he decides anything, he wants to go to USC and Notre Dame."
A date for a trip to South Bend has yet to be finalized. Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and Ole Miss are among the schools in competition for a spot at the top of Gary's list.
