Some guys are just "performers". They need bright lights, nerves and something on the line to be able to not overthink things. I don't think it always has to do with somebody being lazy, just that they turn a switch in a game setting. A switch that is very difficult to turn if not in a real situation.

apparently zaire cant throw START VANGORDER NOW. Dexter looks huge I thought adams was suppose to be the big back, clearly I was thinking of someone else. that wr cone drill thingy ma jig seems so pointless. Keivarae seemed slightly pudgy, Barajas seemed really pudgy.

Not pointless at all. Might be fairly basic but very important drill for footwork with skill players (WR's/DB's). With those positions so much comes down to foot quickness and speed.

Helps strengthen the brain to feet connection so things become/feel more natural.

So a couple things from 247. Jay Hayes looked good in 1 on 1's today. Also, Stanley basically owned every rep as expected but Trumbetti gave him a real run for his money on one rep as Trumbetti came off the ball very quick and beat Stanley to the edge. However, Stanley was able to catch up and hold him up.

I like hearing Trumbetti giving him a run as that will be as good as any LT Trumbetti faces this year. Very good measuring stick.

I'm fairly confident that you're going to see Fuller + Robinson/Brown + Hunter/Carlisle/Prosise as your primary receivers with the last three getting used in various ways as slot/RB.

Then I believe that the bigger bodied guys will have a chance to earn red zone reps from Fuller, and the slot will get sat for another TE.

I could not be more excited for this offense... as long as Zaire can throw with touch, which I have no idea if he can or cannot do. FWIW, I had one person tell me that Zaire was flat out not good today, but others said he was "fine" so take that how you will. First day of camp so who gives a shit.

From different sites etc it appears corey Holmes Will look to press for some reps as well....really excited about Hunter....I was at the Syracuse game last year and when he caught the td I thought he would have a coming out party but that never came to fruition...I have Faith this year

I am awaiting the breakout of Hunter, too. I think he could be electric!

With Torii Hunter Jr. getting a lot of praise and reps I wonder if he can make a run at Amir's starting spot in the slot.

Nothing against Amir, but I wouldn't mind seeing how that looks. I think Hunter could be a baller.

Agree. Ever since he came back from his injury he has seemed very timid and indecisive in games.

Wasn't going to be first to say it! Lol But I agree there, too. But I think Hunter could be much better than Amir ever was. He is someone to keep an eye on, methinks.

Hunter was very impressive today, but it's day one. In two weeks when legs are tired, the camp grind is in full effect and guys are mentally drained, is when you see who will emerge this fall.

That said, definitely encouraging to see a healthy Hunter and a confident one.

This is so true. Our DB coach used to love to jump on the fresh back from injury guys when they would be tearing up 1on's.

On the other hand, sometimes a great start to camp can give a guy confidence that carries all season.

Hopefully TH keeps it going because he really can be dynamic.

I repped a couple of you because you saw through the "20 second celluloid filter." First day of camp, and the die is cast?

I did a little checking, and I think some of the media 'stuff' from yesterday was just that -- bullstuff. Bullstuff to sell subscriptions, (and get the sky is falling crowd to mad click.)

Reporting anything conclusive about the quarterbacks yesterday was disingenuous. All of them had times they looked good, and times they looked bad. Kelly said everything I need to know. in that Wimbush has some footwork to clean up and Zaire had to run a lap. Reporting that Brandon's "redshirt is off" even if weaseled down to "members of the staff say" is total crap.

Here is a real deal take-away from the first day :

"That is the cowards way out & I'm not a coward, I'm here to be a champion" - K. Russell on choosing to return to ND

He hasn't had a lot of them, but TH can really reel them in with an athletic flair can't he? Something few of our receivers can do. Amir?

Yea, it actually came across as more of Tori Hunter's son "Junior" made a great catch but I'll take it.

Curious, what was reported do you think is bullstuff?

Also BK has said the #2 job is up for grabs so how could you possibly insult people for saying Wimbush playing is crap?

It's insanely realistic

I think when all's said and done Trumbetti will be a big time player for us.

I don't know where I insulted anyone. That wasn't my point.

What gets me is when reporters pick up the sky is falling theme, and then some less knowledgeable posters (not speaking of you or any recent contributor on this thread) parrot it back to impress everyone with their knowledge.

Watching day one if you watch Wimbush his feet were happy as hell. Now I really like this kid, don't get me wrong. I hope he is a mega-superstar for ND! But right now he has the look of a freshman Jimmy Clausen, minus the extra early semester. He has to rely on his cannon to make throws. (I agree, it is not a mortal arm!) But his feet were all the heck over the place! And that shows on day two, as he threw many off target, behind his receivers, and had some nice pics.

See the problem with getting all slobbery over a rookie, with the mindset he is going to be the solution for all of the problems is, that not only does it rarely happen, (if ever), but then you take a great kid and risk ruining him by throwing him into the fire too fast. I guarantee, expecting too much out of a kid that hasn't played a snap of college football is the best way to destroy his "head," and put out his "desire." So that is why I called that tweet bull stuff. Here is todays action, LOOK AT THESE FRESHMEN AND LOOK AT THESE RECEIVERS! From UND.COM :

<script height="381px" width="672px" src="http://player.ooyala.com/iframe.js#pbid=5e83fc845d86487e88b6953600eaff54&ec=9uZ3B1djpuTbeiNU_XV4iT_z4HOBoJYT"></script>

By the way, you can see the bad ball Wimbush threw result in an amazing Crawford interception.

And finally, I called someone I know in the Bend, at the University, and they had just finished having a chat with an incredible resource who saw the entire practice, was impressed with Zaire, said all three quarterbacks were good enough, (at least), and when my friend asked his "really" question, he got a "This year fans are going to say Everett Who?" answer!

Thought I would carry over to a second post.

Corey Robinson has made a major leap with his speed. No kidding. Not hyperbole. People are doing double-takes.

Someone said to a friend after two days of practice, that you could exclude the projected starters, Brown, Fuller, etc., and use some of the receivers down the depth chart, with an emphasis on incoming freshman, and possibly put together a top ten receiving corps.

You don't think saying there work is bullstuff and saying it's crap is insulting, that has me confused. You regularly like to throw out those comments to those that may or may not know a lot about football. I love you bogs, but that's ridiculous to think they know nothing relative to you or I. It's their opinion, we don't have to agree but they are not all bad. Some in fact have a very good grasp on what is going on. For example, Lax said he heard Zaire had a bad bad day, that's what 247 reported. So they saw the same thing. That's all crap to you?

Also, it sounds like your last post is directed at Wimbush being 2 over Kizer, well Kizer hasn't played a snap of college football either so your entire post would relate to him as well, right?

That was definitely Zaire that got picked off by Crawford in the clip you posted. Not saying it means anything bad about Zaire because he had some nice throws too but that wasn't Wimbush who got picked in the clip.
