Sure, pick on the dyxlesic guy. Bully!
Word is MZ's going 227 nowadays.
.
I re-read the article above while thinking of a 230 lb Zaire and I'm starting to really get excited. This team has a lot of weapons, I wonder if we'll finally see true offensive maturation. We have the RBs, WRs, OL, TEs and QBs.
I was thinking of this earlier... is there a single position on the offensive side of the ball where that player doesn't have to fight for their role? I mean; Malik is fighting Golson, Folston is fighting Bryant, we are three deep at every wide receiver position, we have multiple former top recruits fighting for the TE position, two deep at every OL slot.
I mean... that's exciting!

If we can ever get the D this deep, look out.I was thinking of this earlier... is there a single position on the offensive side of the ball where that player doesn't have to fight for their role? Right. Because that statement isn't 1000% valid. Thanks Debbie Downer.

How did I not see this coming? You've won the day.If you can't get your D deep enough, that's not our problem.

Is there a generally consensus on this board of who the starter will be? I personally believe it should be MZ all the way. I love the 230 pd scrambling QB and I even thought he looked a lot more accurate throwing the ball, even though BK was making sure he had easier throws. Does it look like a horse race or is EG 2nd string. I'm just scared because to me it seems Bk has a man crush on EG.
Also, I'm a victim of the whole stereotype of white quarterbacks being pocket passers and African American being Scramblers. I don't feel as bad because the recruiting sites are just as bad sometimes. What is everyone's opinions on scrambling ability of EG,MZ, Kizer and Wimbush? Anyway, I'm going to try and break it down best I can based on my limited knowledge of each of these QB's and would love to be corrected and see other opinions.
Golson (Pocket Passer)- to me he seems like a pocket passer who is able to scramble decently but doesn't want to. I know he broke some record for HS football in NC (Passing yards in a season?), but my high expectations for him were his ability to pass and scramble. Who wants a 5'10 pocket passer?
Zaire (Scrambler)- is big and strong, from not much game film I can't tell just how fast or elusive he is, but he definitely isn't afraid to run. Maybe comparable to Cardale Jones scrambling style? I've read he isn't the most accurate of the QB's, but from what i saw he seemed to have a rocket arm and was on target for almost every throw.
Kizer (Pocket Passer)? - I loved when he committed, I love the big frame and big arm. I don't know where he is now weight wise, but to me he has always seemed lanky. So I have no idea if Kizer is a scrambler or a pocket passer because he seems to have the build of a pocket passer. Kid seemed to have a strong arm and out of high school had praise for his leadership skills, but when I watched him throw he just seemed very inaccurate to me (I hope I'm wrong).
Wimbush (Scrambler) - Anyone can put together an amazing HS football highlight tape and all of these QB's had them, but I love this kid. As much as I love MZ's power style scrambling I feel like Wimbush seems more elusive and fluid. He's no Marcus Mariota so don't condemn me yet, but I hope this is what we have in Wimbush. A great passing QB with great speed and elsuiveness (maybe not 4.52 speed, but still fast).
I'd love to see a 2 QB system just as they ran in the Bowl Game. Screw the saying that having 2 QB's means you don't have 1. Teams needing to prepare for 2 QB's of their contrasting skill sets would be advantageous. Keeping both sharp and hungry would be helpful as well.
On Golson: He looks to scramble to much, he needs to sit in the pocket and sling it. He doesn't always look at each progression. He is very quick to tuck and try and make something happen.

Exactly why I want MZ>EG
Why can't everyone see THIS guy has it?
Why do they cling to the past? Golson has proven over a 3 year period that he can not be trusted with the keys 100% of the time. Has he been my favorite player ever on occasion? Yes. But the QB position at Notre Dame requires you to play effectively 100% of the time. Not 90% or 80% or in Golson's case, less than 66%.
Because he can quote an NBA player on Twitter?
