So Greg basically told him that he should consider what it would be like when Dexter has kids and how proud he would be that he graduated from Notre Dame.

Just a really neat way to think big picture and glad that Greg is happy with his decision.

Props to Greg Bryant in the recruitment of Dexter's. I hope our 3 Florida boys run wild next year.

This guy seemed to be on our side almost (if such a thing exists in FL HS) and Alford gives him some praise for doing a good job coaching with Dexter.

Gonna be a sad day when Alford isnt at ND.

It would be hard to be 18 and lose the guy you partially committed with intent to play for, as kids don't usually see the big picture always.

You're probably right, but I wonder how long Alford had the offer in his hands. Did he know before NSD? Or did Urban make him a great offer after NSD and he accepted quickly? Gotta move up the ladder sometime, and Alford may have been as forthright as he knew through the process. I don't know.

I agree 100% on this, ALFORD sold Williams on ND, and now ALFORD sold out.

I understand the sentiment that Alford treated him poorly. But coaches have to move sometimes. Kelly left Cincy to come to ND after a 12-0 season...before the bowl game against Urban Meyer's Florida team. Wasn't that just as bad?

I've made similar career moves, i.e., this is better for my career and my family, but it will be abandoning colleagues and students. I can guarantee Alford is sick to his stomach right now.

Was just ragging on other schools about this same thing and then for Alford to go and do it is a real gut punch but like everyone says this is the exact reason why you commit to the school and not the coaching staff.
