“My dream of playing in the National Football League remains strong, but when I chose to attend Notre Dame three years ago, I planned on earning a degree from this University,” said Day, who is majoring in management-consulting. “I’m only one semester away from reaching that goal. A diploma from Notre Dame is truly special, and ultimately, it wasn’t something I was willing to leave on the table.”

This is one of those moments when our standards of recruiting high quality, intelligent young men really pays off!

Reading things like this are what make me proud to be an Irish fan.

Go get 'em, Big Fella!

1 down at least 3 to go. Nice!

Day was the most important one in my opinion. I love Stanley and I do really hope he returns, but I we have some serious talent at OT ready to step in if need be. Day would have been extremely difficult to replace. Hoping he can stay healthy next year because I think he can be an All American!

From the programs stand point another year from both Day and Ishaq should help build some depth and health for the future DL.

Immediate frosh players are nice but they tend to be "banged up" thought their careers IMO. It will be nice to see a group of sophomores and juniors getting their first full time action going forward.

You forgot to add the bolded part to his statement.

Haha, this is huge news for the team next year. If he can stay healthy it'll dramatically help the team and dramatically help his draft stock.

So was it the injury that prompted the return to school grade? Seems like he should get a better grade than that.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he was returning regardless for the degree. Getting a grade seems like a no brainer for anyone close for some less biased feedback. Hard for these kids to filter all the BS from coaches, friends, agents, etc.

Glad to have him back.

So if true.... which Irish lovin' MKjr always is... If Hayes or Tillery could come out on fire, is it best to move SD out to the edge into Rochell's spot?

.

That is what I think should happen. Given strong play from those two, that gives ND a solid d line and my confidence grows.

Everybody's crying about the DLine but if healthy, I'll take Okwara, Day, Jones & Rochell across the front with Trumbetti, Hayes, Tillery/Cage/Matuska & Blankenship backing them up everyday of the week, especially with their talented, experienced and finally healthy LB core that goes 6 deep before you get to the young guys and career back-ups. Add to that, the experience and athleticism at safety and maybe a great (not just good) set of starting corners and...

If nobody gets hurt, they could be great---ish! lol
