Had he left out those words, it wasn't a bad farewell meeting. He obviously speaks from his heart & fires from the hip. I don't have a problem w/ the context but the 'C' word & the 'P' word could have been replaced by 'coward' or some other synonym. One-on-one conversation, say what you want but I hope he learned that someone else is ALWAYS listening. They say character is defined by what you do when no is watching...he should've kept this in mind in regards to his public image b/c he didn't think anyone else was listening...but now the whole country is listening.

He comes just short of telling the players they should leave. He's the victim, who is leaving a terrible situation, but his boys have to struggle on because nothings going to change and the new coach may bring change they'll find difficult. Does he think about future jobs after Youngstown? Would any AD hire him after he calls the team together and uses it to slam the Nebraska AD?

That's part of my point though. He was no longer their coach when he opened up like that. Getting fired of course upset him and gave him some ammo, but it also gave him the freedom to tell them what he was really going through.

The speech didn't center around the word "cunt." He said a lot of things in that half hour to his guys, but everyone's focusing on two poorly-chosen words, whereas most of that speech really was Pelini trying to relay how much he cared for those guys, and telling them what was going on with the administration.

This I agree with. I didn't mind him venting about the admins, and didn't even mind the language so much, but I thought he could've reminded them why they were at Nebraska, and how they were playing for the entire school, not just a few crappy admins.

Ran across this quote from Hugh Freeze in an article about a walk-on scholarship story.

"Let's be real, we get hired to be fired. That's reality," Freeze said. "When things like that happen and when my time comes to be let go or whatever happens, of course that would be very difficult for any man to go through at any job. But when that's over, I'll think about the Jordan Holders of the world and the act of kindness he made."

Nebraska's contract obligations to Pelini after extending him to 2018 are:
-$7.65 million in salary following his termination in the form of $150,000 monthly payments for the next 51 months.
- The total liquidation to be paid to Pelini is roughly $7.9 million

He coached there seven years. How many coaches stay seven years at a school? He is forty-seven. This guy is not a victim.

Notre Dame's Tony Alford interviews for CSU football coach

Notre Dame assistant Tony Alford has interviewed for the head football coaching position at CSU.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed to the Coloradoan that Alford met with Colorado State University's search firm for nearly two hours Tuesday in Chicago for an interview. The firm, DHR International, is not conducting interviews with external candidates in Fort Collins.

Alford has coached running backs and wide receivers at Notre Dame since 2009 and took over as the Fighting Irish's recruiting coordinator last year. He's a former CSU running back, carrying the ball for the Rams from 1987 to 1990. Other collegiate coaching stops on his resume include Louisville, Washington and Iowa State.

Alford isn't the only candidate to interview for the job at CSU. Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity confirmed to 247Dawgs.com that Bulldogs offensive coordinator Mike Bobo will interview for the position. OrangeBloods.com, part of the Rivals.com network, has reported Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford interviewed.

CSU offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin and co-defensive coordinator Marty English won't say if they have interviewed but have expressed interest in taking over the program.
