In a perfect world, yes. In today's world, no.
If a recruit takes to twitter to announce he's taking a visit to ND and hears crickets, compared to announcing that he's visiting OSU and OSU fans show their excitement and pride, that will leave an impression on him. IMO.
I don't have a problem with fans saying positive things about a recruit or retweeting their tweets, etc. I have a problem with directly engaging a recruit. If a recruit says he's taking a visit, he doesn't have to hear crickets if no one engages them directly. People can retweet, make post about it, etc. All without trying to make conversation directly with the recruit. There is no reason a grown man should directly engage a minor on twitter in efforts to have a conversation with them. Period.
Again; retweeting, tweeting positive comments about a recruit or general positivity in a post meant for the masses is totally fine. Directly engaging a young man is entirely different and not appropriate.
