That's my point. He came and spent time, but I never saw anything that made me think this could turn out good. Hope I'm wrong.

What? Your point was that you never thought we had a shot. How many recruits come on unofficials to ND for multiple days? The answer is not many and clearly when they do it's sincere interest. I'm not saying we're a favorite but kids don't unofficial to ND during the summer because South Bend is a good party.

Four-star athlete Ykili Ross of Riverside (Calif.) Poly has had a change of plans, which effects a few programs. After originally having plans to visit Miami next month, Ross recently decided to cancel that visit, which may open things up for another school. The two schools that could get an official from Ross after this development are Ohio State and Oregon, with the Ducks being the more likely. However, USC is still the team to beat for Ross, so if anyone gets the chance to host him, they will have to work overtime to overcome the Trojans. Notre Dame has the best shot, followed by Oklahoma, but both are longshots.

He is open to schools and USC has set the bar. No harm in that. Its much like kids growing up in the midwest, ND/Mich/osu set the bar for schools outside the Midwest to match.

I think ND will have every opportunity to be considered by Ross and Marshall as long as they keep winning.

I understand what you're saying and maybe I'm not phrasing it best. I probably should have said "Never had a good shot". But here's an analogy. I'm looking to get a new car. I have a pretty good idea what I want and narrow it down to about three. I go look at one of the cars (USC) and really like it, but I want to be sure, so I go look at another car (ND). I test drive it, read the reviews, get a price, etc.. I like it, but it doesn't make me got wow. It meets a number of my criteria and will work for me, but there's just something about it that hasn't sold me so I'm going to think about it. Now the new models are out and that Oregon model is peaking my interest.

I know we are thought of as being in second place, but IMO the lead #1 has makes being #2 meaningless. Just my opinion.

A top 12? I mean he already has his 4 officials lined up so why post a top 12?

Thats what I thought. Ever since I read that interview ISD did with his dad I started to get the impression that his father is having a lot of say in this recruitment. Not saying this is the case here but some parents these days want to make a spectacle out of their kids recruitments.

No particular order? Well they were in alphabetical order until he got to OSU and Utah. Have we EVER landed someone who had a "Top 12" before? Or even a "Top 10"?

I literally take whatever you say and assume the opposite. You simply cannot be taken seriously.

So you think we have a realistic shot at Ross, but none at Marshall. My comment is 100% impartial and realistic, so you're all just delusional and pessimistic.

I'm not sure I'd recruit anyone who has a 'top 12.'

That's just me though, maybe I'd be a horrible recruiter.

But... Top 12? And it's like he gave up on alphabetical order near the end.

bahahahahhaha the irony man come on. I am sure Marshall will love his ND visit but we don't really have a shot. You might be the only person who believes this.

ND didn't even make Davonte Neal's top 12 and he came.

But then he left.

They have a killer haul every year in the secondary.

2014: Adoree Jackson, Lockett and JuJu Smith
2013: Su'a Cravens, Leon McQuay III, Chris Hawkins
2012: Bowman, Seymour, Shelton (and Agholor could've played nearly any position he wanted)

They seem to always sign top level talent.

Yet they haven't been very good. You'd think some might start to take notice.

That's what I don't get. If I'm a recruit and I'm seriously considering USC, I have to look at all of the 5 star and upper 4 star talent and think: they aren't developing talent, they aren't winning but I guess they do have better looking women.

They've developed some talent.

Williams should be a top ten pick and sua is a stud. Agholar is a player. Juju will be a star. Their issue is depth and oline. They'll be back.

They will. They've been losing games in the trenches. But their skill guys are as good as anyone's.

Buts that's just the thing. Highly rated skill players are easiest to project. But ALL interior players need developed.

For a highly rated skill player all you have to do is call the right play.

USC has landed highly rated players skill and in trenches, so why are they losing games in trenches? Depth? Sure, that's an issue, but, they aren't developing the hogs like they should be.

Also...USC's best skill player in a decade has been equally affective/effective (i never get this one right) in the NFL as an average ND skill player. There are legit development issues in socal.

EDIT: DSHANS I'm looking at you on this one ...

Agreed. Might give the new coaching staff a little time is all. The talent's there. I can remember when we didn't develop the hogs - especially on D - like we should have been.
