Well, he would have checked out of it and threw a fade to the TE or DD...who would have made a miraculous catch. :) I appreciate Tommy!

No, Tommy would have called time out because the play would have came in with 10 seconds left, and the other 9 was spent changing the play.

A sizable chunk of the Notre Dame fan base seems determined to do just that. Maybe b/c they grew so accustomed to it the last four years? Maybe as punishment for his not being a modern-day Joe Montana? I don't know

I have heard there has been rumors of him being a girl friend getter? Taker? Not sure about these miserable "fans" intentions but could that be It? and Really?

Just something I wanna point out but it seems like a lot of posts on here have bad feelings about last year. I'll admit the 4 losses sting badly and we will alwyS be thinking what if a guy like EG had been under center but we beat our biggest rival, we beat another big rival and were the reason they didn't have a shot at a national title, and we won a bowl game. Maybe it's cause I'm young and never saw us when we were "the team" in college football but through most of my life watching the Irish I have seen us have losing seasons, crappy .500 years, lose bowl game after bowl game and many of them in embarrassing fashion, and see our biggest rival have bragging rights on us for many years in a row. 2013 was one of my favorite seasons and it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for Touchdown Tommy!

I support Tommy going to the Frozen Five Footballer hearings so he can change whatever unproductive play they're calling --- they are far more guilty of Delay of Game than he ever was.

LOL Reps to you OMM.

Tommy is a smart guy. I would be okay with him being a future ND HC if he was groomed and had prior experience/success coaching.

Stop acting like a jealous hater still bitter about your classmate making the team. ;)

Looks like Tommy drinks Mike's Hard; maybe that is why he throws like a girl.

I pretty much never dream about ND, but...

No joke I had a dream last night that Rees threw a 65 yard TD pass to DaVonte Neal against Alabama. Nothing about that play makes any sense. I gotta take a couple days off from this site.

I pretty much never dream about ND, but...

No joke I had a dream last night that Rees threw a 65 yard TD pass to DaVonte Neal against Alabama. Nothing about that play makes any sense. I gotta take a couple days off from this site.

You were dreaming in an alternate reality from 2012 in which Rees started the entire season. In said he reality, he either didn't assault the police officer, or he was fast enough to out run the officer and was never caught. There were multiple injuries in the receiving corps due to uncalled targeting penalties from Bama, and so Neal was pressed into action. The 65-yard TD was actually a game-winner on a simple bubble screen. Daniel Smith was never injured in this reality, and provided the true heroics on the play, providing three separate crushing blocks as the lead blocker on the bubble screen, even though everyone knew his only value was as a blocker and should have seen it coming.

Also, as Tommy was the starter from game one in Dublin, Golson decided to transfer mid-season. He would go on to start at QB for Alabama in the year 2014 after sitting out a year, winning the job over Blake Sims. Jacob Coker left FSU and transferred to Cincinnati to play for the Bearcats, since the Bama depth chart was pretty solid with the addition of Golson.

Gunner Kiel saw extensive garbage-time action in 2012 as a true freshman throughout the 12-0 campaign in the absence of Golson. This game experience was enough for Gunner to beat out Tommy for the starting QB job the next year in fall camp. Gunner would then lead ND to a second consecutive undefeated season and a national championship victory over Jameis Winston and FSU in a shootout to conclude the 2013 season.

With Golson now at the helm for Bama in '14, Gunner back at the helm as a junior in South Bend, and Jacob Coker leading the Cincy Bearcats, all three teams would make the playoffs.

Gunner and the Irish would first knock off Brian Kelly's former school, only to meet Golson and his Bama squad in the national championship. Tune in next time to find out what happens at the thrilling conclusion of IE's Alternate Reality Football.

(Work is SUPER slow today)
