I didn't say it was baby steps, ha.

Get used to what you saw last night, Cando. His athleticism isn't above the athleticism of the NFL, like it was in college. You can just scamper around like a fairy and make magic in the NFL. Literally no one has been able to do that in this league. Johnny Football isn't going to be the first.

I literally haven't seen a single thing from him in the preseason yet that should be encouraging to a Browns fan. Especially him losing his cool last night. It's freaking preseason, how in the hell do you lose your cool in a preseason game? Wait until the regular season, when shit gets real.

I respectfully disagree.

He will change your mind soon enough.

You bitch. ;)

This is really surprising. Totally out of character for him.

Couples things:

- Neither QB looked like they practiced this week.
- Johnny actually looked slow last night. To Wooly's point, the speed of the NFL neutralizes his best asset.
- Cleveland fans will be a lot tougher on Johnny than the opposing fans if he sucks...and he's going to catch shit everywhere he goes (from opposing fans and opposing players)
- I'm not remotely sold on Hoyer but I think that Johnnyfinger needs to hold the clipboard this year.

For the record, I am not a Browns fan. I'm not even a JFF fan for that matter. I was just a dude watching football last night, and I honestly think that if Im the Browns, JFF is gonna be my starter. He's inexperienced, but IMO his ceiling is much higher than Hoyers.

I know that many will agree with you, but I am on the other side on this. I actually think Hoyer has a higher ceiling. Here's why:

- He has an NFL body.
- Is capable of running a pro style offense
- Instinctively slide in pocket vs busting outside (ie Manziel's one trick pony)
- Leadership traits vs being a "bro"
- Better decision maker
- Better studier
- Better accuracy
- Personal attachment to the city

Let's be real. Manziel wants to be in the NFL, not Cleveland. He plays basketball on turf, his skill set doesn't match up with a guy capable of running an NFL offense in my opinion. How many guys have been successful doing what he does? Don't say Russell Wilson either, because that isn't what he does. Wilson is a leader, a conservative and smart decision maker, accurate and most of all... dedication. Manziel doesn't have anything in common with him outside of being small and capable of extending plays.

Hell... you never know, but I feel like Manziel has already hit his ceiling. He isn't going to get more athletic, better at scrambling, etc. He is what he is, imo.

Agree and I echo this.

The sad part is, Hoyer isn't even that good. While NFL scouts and GM's are far from perfect, there is a reason he bounced around after he was cut by the Pats. He is a serviceable QB that will have high and low moments. He is stable and you know what you are going to get with him.

The kid might wish he stayed in College Station for a few more years after this season, cause that's what he really is...a kid. He's relied too heavily on his speed to make plays in the past, and he always had Mike Evans as a safety valve. Reminds me a lot of Denard when he was at Michigan. It's obvious he lacks maturity, among other things. It's only a matter of time before he gets crushed in the NFL, and Cleveland will be looking for their next QB once again.

Johnny Clipboard, First in Flight!

I was at I party last weekend, and there were a group of guys talking excitedly. They were going to the Cleveland Browns game.

I thought to myself, "Why?"

I did not engage. Was very quiet, but polite.

Couldn't figure out how to talk to someone so excited to go see JFF play for Cleveland, when he hadn't even won the job.

In fact, I think his antics are what guaranteed Hoyer the start.

If he had composed himself, he'd have won the job.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think Hoyer necessarily outplayed him, not by much anyway. If Johnny hadn't been Johnny off the field and on the field (after the whistle blew), he'd probably be starting.

Because he was like, so convincing with his play on the field... come on guys, they would have taken any reasonable excuse to start him, he gave them none.

No just someone who watched Hoyer blow his chance to lock up the spot thats all, thanks!

Wasn't meant to be an insult or anything. I'm no Browns fan. The only reason I have a desire either way is a writer for NFL.com promised to eat his softball pants if Johnny doesn't start week 1. I find it hilarious.

Johnny not ready is better than Hoyer with experience. IMO the coach made the decision based more on what others in the business thought of his decision than what his gut told him. Johnny vs almost any other starting NFL QB, I'd probably pick the starter but Hoyer is terrible.

Tell you what: watching A&M's offense tonight could be a sign JFF was the product of a (gulp) system....
