Wild pigs are not your average "Porky".... they are pretty dangerous animals.

Oh I'm very well aware of the dangers hunting boar. My blueticks were bred to run boar, bear and cat. I was just trying to inject a little humor. I usually fail.

That's a great plan, especially on the tail end of rut. I'm going to try and find a food source and sit between that and bedding areas in the afternoons and evenings now. Good luck!

As for the PETA assholes, I've heard a few stories this year of people hiking around the public land I hunt and when they see someone up in a tree, they will run around banging pots and pans................ :banghead2 They have gone out of their way to disrupt the hunt and have been known to steal seat cushions and stands left on the island. It's so frustrating. If I ever see it, I'm calling the MDC to report hunter harassment.

They are hypocrites. They don't want you to know this, but they actually have a kill center for orphaned animals. They call it a rescue center, but most animals taken in are killed within a week and not really given a chance to be adopted. To date they have killed over 30K animals.

True story: There's a town around here that gets a lot of flak from the PETA types for the way they control their deer population. One day, a lady hit a deer with her car, killing the deer and herself. Turns out, that lady was one of the leaders of the pickets and protests against the way the town controlled the herd. Karma's a bitch.

Didn't feel like starting a new thread but I am getting pretty excited for hunting season this year. Duck and Geese open Monday and I hope to get out on Monday for some Geese. I also got Moose tags which starts Oct. 1 which can't come fast enough!

good luck...

Waterfowling in Utah is rough...there is some opportunities, but not the same as the big flyways in the central and eastern US.

I've been archery hunting for deer and elk already...got in on cow elk every day...no bulls...yet. Focusing on Mulies this weekend...around the game of course...

favorite time of year right here...

I'll hopefully be ordering a chainsaw mill and porting a husky in a month and I'll be out in the woods also.

Some of it'll be on our hunting ground, dropping mature trees and trying to recover some high quality lumber. Really, really excited about that.

Used to have an AWESOME outdoor and indoor archery club I would shoot leagues at every week, but haven't pulled back much since moving to Indy (nothing around here, why I have no idea). Just last weekend I slung a few dozen arrows for the first time in about a season, and definitely am getting pumped for October.

Holy heck, how much elk can a person eat?

In on cows... he saw them, but hasn't shot them. That's how I took it at least.

ANd holy ****. I just realized that open season in Missouri is 20 days away! Since moving into an apartment, I haven't been able to shoot the bow this summer. I need to get on it!

...Funny, but I'm a native PA boy, and I miss Whitetails. Elk are Yummy, but Mulies...can ya say SAGE...WOW.

They are all fun to hunt....some not as easy to prepare as whitetail...but I'm learning.

That's a bloody meat missile. I've been thinking about those Ozonics. That good huh?

Unfortunately no hunting for me until after the wedding, but please believe that I'll be in the woods the first opportunity I get when I return from the honeymoon.

Will do. I have been out a couple of times and have had one encounter but could not close. Of course the one time I get drawn is the same time I start a new job.
