Any duck plunkers here?

I'll be out for the Michigan opener.

If I'm ever invited by someone, I go. But I don't have anywhere to go down here and all the duck clubs are expensive in the STL area. Good luck.

We have a full boat for the opener (next Sat), but i'll let you know if we have a seat on future trips if you are willing to head up to the Mitt.

Well... it looks like I won't be hitting the woods for a while now. I was shooting in my backyard this morning when I hear a crack from the bottom limb. Yup. The limb on my bow broke 2 weeks into the season in Missouri and opening day in Illinois. **** me. Now to wait for new limbs to come in, then the shop to put them on, then I will have to tune the bow again. Hopefully I'll be ready to go for the rut.

Damn, sorry to hear that, Peoria. I guess now you can go out hunting like a man with a knife or speer ;) Good luck, bud.

You want pics? Well here are a few from my most recent scouting.

So dense here early season.

Deer trail through the weird reeds.

An old, little scrape.

Some fresh droppings about 20 yards from where I plan on hanging my stand.

There's a decent doe about 15 yards out in the brush.

The view from the base of a tree I am thinking of sittin in.

Took a decent 8 pointer this morning at about 15-20 yards. Through and through shot. He ran about 25 yards into an open field and dropped. Will post pics tomorrow. Anyone know why I can't upload an attachment?

Congrats!!!! I can't wait to see the pictures!!!

The easiest way to do it is load it photobucket or something like that, then copy image URL (from right click on photo). Then, click the little yellow square that looks like it has mountains in it, paste that URL in it, then poof! There's your picture!

Congrats Man!! I look forward to seeing the pics.

Im hitting the range this weekend to make sure the 300 WSM is still driving tacks for next weekends pig hunt but part of me is torn and I am thinking of using the Mathews. I want the meat and 300 ups my chances with the 350 yd range as opposed to the 50 yd range of the Mathews...but the satisfaction of arrowing an animal is beyond that of a gun kill...decisions!!

Thanks! Here he is. Not the best I've ever had by any means but a great deer to start the season off!

He was tall in the rack but not very wide. Judging by the color of his base I'd say he is a 2 year old possible 3 year old buck.

I was in the stand right on the edge of the field. He came out about 50 or so yards from me into the field and walked right down the damn tree line toward me before he stared to cross. When he turned to cross, it game me a perfect open shot.

I don't believe in rubbing down with doe p1ss so I always save a hide every year and rub down with it before I head out. May sound a little gross but the hide is clean and it works. The key is to wrap the hide good so common scents (people, garage, house, etc) don't get to it. Also, you should wrap it pretty much right when you get done harvesting and cleaning the hide.

His name is Jerky the Deer.

That's a great buck! Congrats again!

As for scent control, no pi$$ for me. I wash my cloths with Scent Killer the night before using earth scented dryer sheets and wait until the woods to put the stuff on. When there, spray down with Scent Killer. Works great for me. When out scouting last week, I wasn't using any scent blocker clothing, just Wal-mart stuff, but did my scent elimination routine and had 2 doe come within 15 yards of me and only made me due to movement trying to take a picture.

Awesome pic, thanks for sharing. Don't be so modest, that is a great buck. I'd shoot him 100% of the time.

Congrats! I got my bow back from the shop, but one problem. With the limb bolts turned down, it's maxing out at 65# when it maxed at 70# before. I'm taking it to another shop this weekend to get it checked out. I just want my damn bow to work right.

Now, I did get an early Christmas present for myself. These came in the mail today. Had to get them in ND colors to match my bow strings and sling. Can't wait to fling em down range and at a whitetail.

Bow. All day.

Although... you may want to bring a handgun, just in case.

Can't be too careful with Porky Pig and his friends. Good Luck.
