It's apparently pretty effective.

If true, this would be excellent news for the league and its players.

Edit: Apparently wouldn't be too bad for the Sterlings either:

Nuts. Just Fucking Nuts.

The "Invisible Hand" is also, apparently, fucking blind.

Money equals speech according to some.

The speech is gibberish.

How can Donald be "mentally incapacitated" and "unfit" to make decisions regarding sale of the team but he IS held accountable for other words he said under likely similar mental capacity???

That's what bothers me so much about this situation.

^ This.

Of course it will be probably be spun as, "See-- we told you he need to go. He's mentally incapacitated," after the fact. And perhaps it already has been (I quit following the story). But this isn't why he was forced out.

Ultimately, Sterling probably needs to be out of the NBA anyway. And it appears the league has the ability to force him out. But if people aren't strongly concerned about the effect of private conversations and age/mental capacity/health on our individual rights, then I don't know what to say. To me, this will always be the biggest issue in this ordeal.

He is/was one of 32 representatives of the NBA. If he is incapable of running an organization obviously worth 2 billion dollars, its in the family's interest to remove control from his incapable hands. Likewise, his comments whether made in full awareness or in an incapable mental state, does not reflect what the NBA wants and the owners have a say in their stake of the NBA as well.

Ballmer isn't going to pay 3 billion dollars for a team in Seattle. The Clippers are staying in LA.

It would cost damn near 3 billion after the relocation fee, stadium construction, and other expenses. He's not going to move them. He already said so and it wouldn't make any financial sense.

Making him sell the team for $2 billion ... that will teach him a lesson.

He's 80 with a reported history of prostate cancer.

Doesn't sound like he was pitching in either league.

If he's not pitching, it's more than likely due to his age and not the prostate cancer. I had it and I was hitting home runs just fine. Had surgery to remove it and within six months I was hitting home runs again. The only difference now is there's no mess and my wife appreciates that!
