Im not saying Waller isnt a good player. Im not saying that at all. Watch Wallers highlights. Its majority runs. The throws he makes are not on a level of a Barnett,Rosen,White, Stidham or even Towns. Barnett has zero D1 players on his team. White has 7, and Rosen has like 150. Waller Im not sure about, but obviously there is talent there bc ND is recruiting St.Brown. At a high school level a D1 QB and a D1 WR, should win you games alone. He makes some good throws, but he also doesnt have a throw on his tape that stands out. He is Reesesque in that he moves the chains, and doesnt take a ton of chances with his throws. He doesnt have a huge arm, and at a high school level throwing to a 6'4 St.Brown is a huge advantage. Now, he can run with the best of them. He is a great running QB. He runs zone read excellent, really sets up the speed option well, and I believe I saw a little bit of midline in there. He understands the concepts of "read" football and where to attack the defense. I think that part of his game is great. Kelly hasnt run a Auburnish/Urbanish offense in his career...will that change..possibly. But Waller fits that offense more than the spread Kelly typically runs.
Like, I said, Im not trying to downgrade the kid or anything like that bc I think he is fine football player and Id love to him in the Blue and Gold. But there is a lot for him to work on if he is going to pass the ball the way Kelly wants his QBs to pass.
Francois. Is a project. He isnt the runner Waller is and he isnt the passer of Waller. Im not sure what you want me to say NDPhilly.
This is from a few months ago. Its like 5-6 passes in a camp, but you can tell he struggles with control and accuracy. The guys I mentioned that are a level ahead of Waller dont have these issues. The last throw...Barnett/White hit in their sleep and Francois isnt remotely close to hitting it.
