Great program plays in same league as Bosco Servite and mater Dei. Carson Palmer and mark Sanchez went here. Haven't seen him play but looks like a good prospect.

You're right about Palmer but Sanchez went to Mission Viejo.

His dad took him to the SC/Notre Dame when he was 8, and he was "blown away." Has kept his eye on ND since. He also returned to South Bend against Syracuse and again had his mind blown. Costello said ND is a "dream school" for him.

Had a little difficulty reaching LaFleur because his team has a whole new coaching staff. Once new coach got settled, they were able to talk on the phone. LaFleur will visit him Tuesday. So far Costello likes LaFleur and hopes to get a better feel for him on the visit. An ND offer would mean everything to him. He said he'll go out of his way to visit ND again.

Lists academics and religion as two key factors, as well as coaching staff and fit with the school in the event coaches are no longer in the picture. Wants to have a decision by this time next year.

Well... that's sure encouraging... not jinxing this one though.

Per ISD, change of plans in LaFleur visiting. School is on spring break so dinner if his WRs are out of town. LaFleur will instead head out in a couple weeks so he can watch Costello throw.

Unbelievable accuracy and touch on his deep ball. Every other throw seemed like a perfectly placed deep throw over the receiver's shoulder right into the basket. Even more impressive is the trajectory; he was able to drop most of those in over the top without throwing a rainbow.

And he's got some nice receivers too. #5 in particular looked pretty good.

His trajectory was actually one of the things that gave me pause. He may be able to sneak those long balls in on a line with high school secondaries, but he's going to have to learn to put a little more arc on his deep throws once he gets to college.

It seemed that he was using the low trajectory to get the ball to the deep parts of the field faster when his receivers had a few steps on the defender. He showed appropriate touch in terms of getting it up higher a few times, and I'd imagine someone with this talent as a sophomore will figure it out over the next two years.

For those of you who live out in the area of KJ Costello's high school, KJ's team plays Blake Barnett's team on September 5th. You could be watching two future Notre Dame quarterbacks on one field

K.J. Costello, whose name has gone national with his first three offers coming from Florida State, Miami and Tennessee recently, checked in on the Trojans at the spring game over the weekend.

“It went really well. I met the whole new staff for the first time, and I really like their style,” the pocket passer said. “I talked with quarterbacks coach Clay Helton, and he told me they will be out to my school next week.”

There has not been any discussion about a possible offer, but Costello, whose mother graduated from USC, admitted it would be immense if it eventually materialized.

Ever since I was a little kid, I dreamed about being a Trojan,” Costello said. “My mom would be thrilled. An offer from USC would mean everything to me, but on another note, I am trying to keep an open mind and take a look at colleges all over the map.”

Costello Connects With ND | Irish Sports Daily

LaFleur was finally able to visit Costello's school after having to postpone an earlier trip. He watched Costello throw and on film and told Costello he liked what he saw. LaFleur needs to report back to Kelly, but an offer could be coming when he gets back to ND. Costello likes LaFleur's personality and thought the two connected well.

Costello has a trip planned to Michigan June 15th and the plan is to be in South Bend the next day. He will also visit Alabama and Florida after his midwest stops. He's looking forward to meeting the rest of the staff and facilities. Costello will visit Southern Cal either before he heads out to Michigan or after he gets back.
