You make a good point on the repeater tax.

Jerry R is cheep. It is frustrating that the Bulls a big market team, one of the few NBA teams that consistently makes a profit (most NBA teams lose money) behave like a small market team.

That said the repeater penalty is very harsh even for rich teams.

I don't disagree with you on that one. I've always thought that it's a joke that Jerry operates the Bulls like a small market franchise. The Bulls would probably be catching a lot more heat over this deal if they were already under the tax, but avoiding the repeater tax is helping them there.

Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean that they don't have an understanding of the topic. If everyone that doesn't think this is a good deal is so stupid… then take it up with Thibodeau. He hates the deal and is one of the best basketball minds out there.

Chicago Bulls understand why Tom Thibodeau unhappy with Luol Deng trade - ESPN Chicago

- Most big dollar free agents usually does a sign and trade vs a simple free agent contract.
- You don't get a free pass to the playoffs every year. Giving up a chance to make the show, simply because you don't think you are good enough to beat a certain team is a loser's mentality, imo.
- The repeater tax could have been avoided by dumping Boozer and sign and trading Deng. AFTER you exhaust your playoff aspirations.
- It's also total disrespect to Thibodeau, who voiced his opinion (see article). He is a great coach, and the front office totally bullied him here.

OK, let me rephrase. I don't think people who don't like this deal understand the NBA in the way I think it should be understood. I thought it went without saying that that is what I meant by "don't understand the NBA."

I understand why Thibs is mad. So do the people who made the trade. Thibs' job is to win every game, just like Brad Stevens' job is to win. Of course they don't like it. Their jobs are theoretically at stake. Doc Rivers didn't like it in 2006, either, but he learned to live with it. The front offices have to do what they can to build a championship team; sometimes that means thinking big picture and down the road. Coaches don't have that luxury.

People have this title or bust mentality. If you can't win a title blow the whole thing up. What is wrong with having having a pretty darn good team when everyone else (excluding Rose) is healthy. After the shell shock of losing Rose wore off this team was starting to get back to winning basketball.

Okay so the bulls avoid the repeater tax and get a few late draft picks. Do these picks suddenly make them better than Miami when Rose comes back? No but yet they threw away a potentially decent season for them and the financial flexibility they which would have had in the off season anyways.

No. The superstar moniker is thrown out way too often anymore. Noah is an All Star and certainly a great player in the league, but superstar is too much.

I agree. He isn't say…. a Derrick Rose… or… a Carmello Anthony [/gasp].

He is easily the most complete 5 in the league. And he's perfect for the system and team, but I don't know. D12 might still be the better center.

Is it him… or is it Thibodeau? I fully believe that if the Bulls had Roy Hibbert, then he would be a top 10 player in the league. Thibs is a crazy good coach that has been working with a shitty hand for a few years. He has Rose, but the dude can't stay on the court and is a head case.

Roy doesn't have the range that Noah does. There was a telling statistic from last year that tells you about Noah: he ran more per game than any other player in the league. Also, he had plantar fasciitis.

I might even rate Hibbert and Marc Gasol as slightly above Noah for the second best 5 in the league.

He is a…

- Better post player
- Better rebounder
- Better defender

That's just my opinion.

If there is a such thing as a superstar coach it is Tom Thibodeau. If you ask me he is the face of the franchise these past couple seasons.

If there are superstar coaches then there are only 2 of them: Thibs and Greg Popovich; as in San Antonio they seem to win no matter who they play being a half game out of first in the West despite using different 24 starting lineups this year is crazy.

If Thibs don't win Coach of the Year it is a disgrace! I don't know how you can even consider anyone else other than the two guys I mentioned.

I don't know the more advanced metrics, but I know Noah rebounds much more per game. He also is a better passer and defends out on the perimeter a bit too. I'd say that who is the better defender is a push.

Honestly, they are two different kinds of players. Roy is more of a true center in an era where those aren't used much. Noah is a leaner more athletic center who gets by on the fire that burns in his heart. Both are good, but I'm not sure either would do as well on the other team.

It's official, Chicago is cursed. The Cubs and Sox sucking is no surprise and I wouldn't be shocked if both teams ended up eclipsing the 100 loss mark given our recent fortunes. All that hard work in the off-season to pay off. ND may not be a Chicago team, but they have a huge following, and needless to say about all those injuries/suspensions. The Bears were a trainwreck in every way, shape and form. The Bulls have been inconsistent as hell, and Rose tore his meniscus AGAIN! And to top it all off, Kane is probably out for the foreseeable future, possibly for the year. WHAT IS GOING ON!?

I'm not a Bulls fan or a Rose fan, but I respect the great players. Hate to see someone with so much talent unable to display it and do what they love.

I hope we're cursed with at least two more cups in the next five years.

Feel bad for Rose. He'll have to get healthy and work on that jump shot. His days of exploding through the lane are probably over.

Unless he was in a lineup with a bunch of white guys I wouldn't be able to pick him out. NBA can suck it.

The Sox will contend for the Central this year and the Cubs are set up better than any team in baseball for the foreseeable future. Neither will sniff 100 L's.

Kaner's deal sucks.

That thought crossed my mind also. Both such productive and successful college athletes but never could stay healthy in the pros and its a shame.

Hill was a 12 & 5 guy over the last 5 or 6 years of his career when he was pretty healthy. Dude played 18 years I think. 6 HOF years... 6 injured years... 6 glue guy years.

Bulls fans would take 6 glue years if he can be glued back together.

I know! But it's probably cheating given where I grew up.

I'll give everyone a hint... Benghazi.
