I wonder if the "tape not stacking up" is referring to last year specifically. Because the year before, he had 12 sacks and long 77 yard fumble recovery for a TD. His tape from '12 is fantastic.
I just think they are saying his tape is wildly inconsistent. Even 2012 he was inconsistent at times, i.e. Michigan game.

Yes, and I think he could be a monster there.

I don't know if he has the burst to be an elite one-gapper. IMO his value is that he has the strength and length to control a tackle--critical for two-gapping. When he was giving us good pass rush, it's because he controlled the tackle enough to do this while power rushing the edge.

He would be a good one-gapper but is better suited for two-gapping IMO.

Notre Dame's Stephon Tuitt not cleared for combine

By Daniel Jeremiah

Published: Feb. 24, 2014 at 12:09 a.m. Updated: Feb. 24, 2014 at 12:26 a.m.

Notre Dame's Stephon Tuitt, one of the top pass-rushing prospects in this year's NFL draft, will not work out at Monday's NFL Scouting Combine because of a small fracture in his left foot, according to a source familiar with the situation.

A second source confirmed that Tuitt was not medically cleared to participate. The injury -- a Jones fracture -- was revealed in a scan administered at the combine.

Tuitt plans to undergo surgery on his foot in about a week, the first source said, and is expected to fully recover in 6-8 weeks. He might try to schedule a pro day for NFL scouts before his surgery.

unfortunately, this may start to raise questions about the longevity of tuitt and his ability to stay healthy.

tough break for the kid no pun intended...likely drops him into the 2nd round at best and depending on how others at his position improve over the next few months....maybe the 3rd

It's an unfortunate circumstance for him. Must not be hindering him since he may try to schedule a pro day before surgery. I wondering if he's been experiencing much pain?

Forgive me for asking, but is it possible for him to return to ND?

I don't think it would actually happen, but I wonder about NCAA rules and such.

Hate this for Tuitt. Hopefully he heals in time to show off his skills. Wish the best for him.

Makes me wonder how long he as had it. Good to see his weight at 304 and impressive 31 BP reps, top tier for DL, with his 35" arms that is some tough sh!t.

While I hate it for him, and it almost assures that he drops into the second, maybe I can get to see him play in Jacksonville now - we could use a pass rusher something awful.

Jags should spend all their high picks on pass rushers IMO. Three in three rounds if necessary

Do to the poor blood supply to this area of the foot, this is a fracture that his a higher rate of nonunion and/or a more prolonged course to heal. Bummer

No.

If I recall correctly, a student athlete with eligibility remaining can declare for the draft and later withdraw and return to his school team providing he did not sign with an agent. Tuitt signed with CAA in January.

Good. Would love to see him get drafted high and do well. Shows elite defensive lineman that we can take a good player out of high school and make him a better player coming out of college.

Havent been able to say that with past coaching staffs.
