You don't need to be a good actor to play Batman.

Also if we decide to not watch these bullshit movies, they'll finally stop making them.

This i agree with, marvel has saturated the market with so many superhero movies its starting to become stale

Affleck may very well not be able to hold even Bale's jockstrap when it comes to the role, but I for one have really enjoyed the movies he's directed.

Sorry I should have added "as we know it" there was tremendous boom in quality and quantity of comic book movies after batman begins came out. Everything before that was not nearly as down to earth as we expect comic movies to be now. If you look at the comic book movie from around the time of daredevil they are all pretty cringe worthy. Off the top of my head catwoman, electra, superman returns, blade, Constantine, fantastic four, schumachers batmans, all where garbage, I would lump daredevil in with those.

Argo had nothing to do with Boston.

Oh sorry, forgot about Argo, but honestly he started his "comeback" with movies that solely revolved around Boston, like The Town. I admit that The Town is good but if you lump Daredevil in there (and you have to considering that Elektra was a spinoff of that movie), then you cannot really think that Affleck has the chops to play a pivotal and iconic figure like Batman.

And the story is based off of The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel by Frank Miller, from what I hear.

I do not know if that is true or not, though, because that graphic novel was AMAZING for its time. Of course, Sin City was based off of Frank Miller as well, so this movie could be pretty grim, in tone.

I just am not holding my breath that he does a good enough Batman.

I am less than thrilled with the casting, but if everyone can just wait to crucify Ben and WB until after the film comes out that would be great. If it sucks the people will let them know how badly they blew it. When a certain actor was cast as the Joker, people lost their ****ing ****, and he ended up nailing the role, as possibly the most memorable portrayal of the villain. You just have to wait and see what becomes of it. I'll be the first to throw that stone if the movie sucks. But for now, patience. Give old Ben a shot.

When did Ben become a member of IE???

LOL...I get ya. I was one of those that said Ledger didn't fit the Joker, but Ledger is also a much better actor then Affleck.

Is Ledger only now a better actor than Ben, because of his performance as the Joker? I doubt many would say that based on his performance in Ten Things I Hate About You and A Knight's Tale.

Other than the dark knight and maybe the patriot and thats a big maybe, what has he does that is better than affleck? When Ben made dare devil the comic book movies were no where near as big as they are now, im sure he will do fine. If anything we will have our first batman with a boston accent

LOL....

Giligi trumps both of those. And Daredevil was pretty awful.

Ledger was great in Lords of Dogtown, The Patriot, The four feathers.

Daredevil was just terrible.

Affleck has a couple of movies that he directed well...and was great in GWH and plays the ******* really well in movies.

But I don't consider Affleck a great actor. And yes, ledgers portrayal of Joker is better than all of Afflecks actiing roles put together.

I agree with everything you said except that Batman Begins started the trend of good grown up superhero movies. That was Xmen 2 IMO.

None of those scream that he had the chops to play Joker, but he pulled it off in spectacular fashion. People were concerned with that CV, but it worked.

You just have to hope Ben can do the same. I do not see it, at all, but they've made the choice. Daredevil was terrible. Absolutely horrible. It's like they totally forgot that he had a flop super-hero movie ten years ago.

People were really concerned that Michael Keaton couldn't pull off Batman as well. He was my favorite one.

I really like they are going in the direction of a younger lex luthor, hopefully more of a hands on villain but they picked mark zuckerberg? Only time will tell i suppose

Lex does have facade of a charming businessman but who knows. I'm going to wait until I at least see a trailer before I pass judgement. As a nerd the fact that these two are finally gonna be together in a movie makes me nerdgasm.

Everyone thought it was stupid to cast Heath Ledger as the Joker. That worked out ok.

Yeah, they pointed that out nearly a year ago. I have no idea why people keep harping on it. Heath is certainly a better actor than Eisenberg OR Affleck.

Not really sure why they chose Irons, other than the fact he is British?
