Respectfully disagree, there is no universe where we should be ranked behind a USC team that is 2-1 with wins over Syracuse & Hawaii when we are 3-0 with a DOMINANT win over a top 10 team.

Every sport but college football votes on resume, not bullsh*t "perception of talent"... and the coaches poll is the worst.

I agree we shouldn't be ranked behind USC, but nor do I think we should be ranked as high as 11.

I was surprised at #11. I also felt a #14 or #15 was coming. I'd prefer to stay under the radar, but when you win on the road in a night game on national TV, you're going to get your props.

Yeah Purdue played a couple of softies, but they smoked them like good teams should. They should be getting some votes.

I have no opinion on where we're ranked, that will take care of itself if we are actually deserving [i.e. win a lot of games]. This post is, rather, to say that no one should ever pay any attention to the coaches poll. There is HEAVY pro-conference politics involved, and, if you happen to get an unbiased coach, he has no time at all during the season to be messing with evaluating teams he will not play. And, by the way, most of the coaches know that and even admit it.

Watching CFDaily on EspnU right now and all three of the talking heads said that Notre Dame deserves to be #11...if not higher. Said that if they didn't turn the ball over last year at the rate that they did that they'd of been in the same position. They all really like ND right now.

11 is about where ND should be. A win over scUM this weekend, and I think we jump up to 8 or 9. (Clemson will lose to FSU, Stanford will be upset by the AZ wildcats- you heard it here first!)

my wife asked me why I've been so glued to ESPN lately...and I had to explain to her that I thought I was still in shock from hearing so much positive ND reporting on ESPN. So not used to it but defiantly like it!

I think this game is so important for national reputation (which does matter in college football...) If ND wins the love is valid and the Irish are on their way back (according to 'experts')... a loss of any kind and it was all hype AGAIN and Notre Dame is nothing but a has been program... again... haters playground.

thus is cfb... but yeah, the statement will most likely be made one way or the other on saturday.

I watched a little ESPNU today before work and was amazed Luginbill picked us to win 10 games this year! It was eerie how positive they were. I'm not complaining as it was refreshing to get some positive pub! I am hoping all of Kelly's hard work rebuilding this program is about to take off and give us several years of joy! Pretty stoked for Saturday as this is my favorite game every year! I want me some skunkbear stew!

It is all about setting up ND for a fall on ESPN. But if ND keeps on winning and improving each game, then they will not have much to complain about when it comes to the Irish...until bowl season, that is.

anyone catch the college football show on espn last night??? it had Mike Belloti, Jason Seehorn, UL coach etc....anyways they were discussing how much Stanford dominated USC....and d#ckface Seehorn says..."well we all knew USC shouldn't been a top 2 team"....really because for the past 2 weeks he was doing nothing but pumping hot air up their asses along w/ everyone else on ESPN was saying how great they are....it was almost what i was expecting when we beat MSU....it wasn't ND controlling and dominating but rather MSU just wasn't what they expected they were...although it was completely the opposite of us this time!
