Color me surprised that the Lucas oil stadium is the road trip he's liking forward to most next year. Figured the shamrock would lose some luster passing Purdue there, but I guess the kid feel differently.

Well if you are looking for a proof reader I'm your guy.

haha. you're writing on a message board and you've got the best info on the site, I don't give a shit about your grammar and I don't get why anybody else does.

But this is a published blog, run by someone who seems to want to create a following and make this a small business - so take the extra 45 seconds, spell 'field' right and make clear that the kid wants to be "a part" of the class, not "apart" from it.

NFL stadium and the one that Peyton built. That's why ND can go anywhere that's an NFL stadium and the kids will eat it up. I remember in high school in Indiana every conference in the state got to play in the RCA Dome (formerly Hoosier Dome). That game was something because it was where the Final Four was played, where the Colts played, where Wrestlemania was when I watched on TV as a kid. It is something I will always remember, it was nothing short of incredible.

I'm excited. Lucas Oil is an unreal venue especially in the Fall with even decent weather. I've been to a number of Colts games and Supercross a couple times and every time it was a great experience. Plus tons of bars close enough to pregame.

a quick suggestion, without any intent of being an asshole: given that you want to make this professional and represent the university, a quick edit would go a long way.

Those look like text messages... Is it legal to change what someone texts you for an interview?

* Disregard if they arent texts lol

I just love the way the kids in this class think and act. Humble and hungry seems to be common traits. I've said this before and I'll say it again. It makes being a fan so fun when you are cheering for great kids/football players.

good point that there may be more details journalists have to think about. not a legal issue, but it's probably a more complex issue about the ethics and standards of journalism than my comments would suggest. any journalism majors want to weigh in? if it's a spoken quote then there's no question it should be revised. if it's a text or email my sense is that you absolutely have to edit in order to correct obvious spelling mistakes - just like editing the text of the author. if you were worried about the editing then you send it back to him to make sure he's ok with it, but this seems like overkill.

regardless, you don't put those blatant mistakes in print.

No thanks for putting that on here. I didnt catch it. The coding was effing up when i posted it originally and that was the edited copy. So I had to re-do the coding and copied the original document and posted it without thinking about the revised copy haha. Fixed.

Yeah Idk just throwing it out there because I read an article about this prize winning photographer who got shitcanned for editing out a camera on the floor from a photo he submitted.

FWIW, it was forbidden to quote text message and email interviews by our editors at the paper I wrote for. We were of course allowed to correspond through email and text, but only as "supplemental" material. We had to do a live phone/in-person/video-chat interview to use quotes, as a means to keep us from being dependent on non-verbal communication.

However, we did have to use them in extreme cases a few times. Usually you just make a note in the article about how the interview was done, and include "sic" or "sp" (depending on differing style rules) where there are mistakes. You could also just paraphrase the answers in these cases rather than using direct quotes. Even if the subject gave you permission, it would not be acceptable to edit/correct their direct communication.

I've got a feeling he'll develop into a great athlete for us, but I hadn't realized how ill his brother was:

Notre Dame commit Williams survives, excels - South Bend Tribune: Recruiting

He's definitely got some explosiveness:

With his home life stabilized, Williams was able to dedicate himself to football. In the three years that he has played, Berrien Springs coach Bill Bergan has seen Williams grow and learn and prosper, and marvels that a guy Williams' size was able to place fifth in the state in the shot put and seventh in the high jump.

Beast! Any idea what he's weighing right now? Front page says 230, but he could probably put on 30 lbs w/o anyone even noticing.

Wow, did not see him as the explosive power type. Always thought it was explosive quickness.

If he has both, the sky could be the limit. Def. One of the more "interesting" (keep an eye on) prospects of last year's class.

Yeah, I think he would have set the 5A record in Alabama.

You ussually you expect to see the thicker kids win that event. He must be pretty darn strong.

He might have a little Kona/Kap growth potential in him.

I actually think his frame and makeup are nearly identical to Jason Pierre Paul, and that's pretty damn exciting given the power he's shown in the high jump and shot put.
