He's on campus
I know most have him as an MSU lean, but I haven't read anything explaining the Mizzou interest. Is it a bad sign that we couldn't bump them (apparently his, at best, 3rd choice based off CB predictions) out for a weekend visit?
Also, does anyone know who is hosting him on campus?
It's currently 17 F with a 9 mph wind and clear skies at ND. 60% chance of snow tomorrow, but the high will get up to 30 F.
Could be worse. At least Cage is used to it.

IDK his economic background but growing up in poverty "gated community" it was never a positive term. In fact it was an insulting or even hostile one…

And the entire country is suffering through this, so he knows it's not normal.
I like that both he and his parents have academics as a priority. I think he'll have a hard time deciding between MSU and ND.
JC Shurburtt was on Bill Kings show this morning and a caller asked about MSU recruiting. His thought was that if Malik McDowell chooses Sparty, then Cage would most likely go to ND. If McDowell chooses someone else, then he thinks Cage would go to MSU.
Fire up the "affraid of competion/early playing time" discussion.
No, it's more on MSU's end. They'd be full up on DT then most likely. Especially with them continuing to try to flip Evans from Wisconsin.
I understand your explanation. It makes sense for what was said. But why is it even a scenario if Cages parents are so locked into education?

Anything new?
Well, you know how it goes. Earlier in the cycle we had K.C. McDermott's dad telling reporters that Miami and ND are basically the same academically. I mean, what?
Cage and his dad had a great visit to MSU last weekend. Cage loved the school, and I'm sure MSU blew them away with their academic presentation. After all, MSU ain't ND but (like Miami) it is a pretty good school; it's pretty easy to highlight a few leading programs and dress up a few others and make it all look like a winning choice.
One source says that ND could blow Cage away on this visit, but MSU is definitely on top and Illinois may also be in front of us. Need a great visit and probably need Malik McDowell to pick MSU.

Kelly should be able to dispel such sophistry pretty easily by using the same tactic that just impressed Quick-- simply slide a paper comparing GSR rates across the table to him. MSU's African American Football GSR (55%) and ROI are both in the bottom quintile of BCS programs. For a football player concerned about academics, they simply can't compete with ND.
I died a little inside when I read that quote.
