Watch him qualify for ND and then choose another school

If he gets qualified soon then I don't think it's an issue. Didn't his girl apply to IU and when she got accepted they talked about being close to each other.

Wait, you jump through all these hopes to qualify for ND and then once qualified, you go to Oregon??

Whoa, maybe I'm wrong but all I've seen so far are rumors that he may be qualified. As far as Oregon goes, have they officially offered and has he set up a visit?

I'm going to wait until he visits and glows about that visit. Until then, nothing changes imo.

It's not like ND was the only good offer he has. Michigan, Florida and Tenn all offered him too. Until I see more than a tweet, where all he did was acknowledge the offer, I'll hold off on my panic.

Just got a text from my uncle in Boca. Said Mckenzie and Nigel Bethel are going mano v. mano at traz powell stadium this Friday. Nigel waged $200 that IM couldn't catch 6/10 passes against him. Bunch of high school ballers will be there.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>It's going down Friday at Trazz between <a href="https://twitter.com/_NigelBethel">@_NigelBethel</a> and that American heritage kid</p>— Danny Dominguez (@DannyDominguez_) <a href="https://twitter.com/DannyDominguez_/statuses/420647965930586112">January 7, 2014</a></blockquote>

If he wins the bet, does that make him a professional athlete since he got paid for performing.

Oregon is late to the party. If he qualifies, Kelly will point out that ND has been been with him from the beginning.

This makes sense...I'm with Wooly on this. Time stands still this time of the year...we will know soon enough.

in fairness oregon probably use him way better than ND will ever do

This. And he probably knows that, too. What they're telling him is with DAT leaving he can step in immediately and play his role. This sure is an interesting situation for both parties on so many levels.

I don't necessarily agree with this. Deanthony Thomas's stats from 2013.

2013: 96 rushes for 594 yds with 8tds.
22 rec. for 246 yds. 1 td.

Thats not better than Theo riddick's numbers from 2012. 2013 we didn't have a main guy in this mold of RB/slot that we could give 10-15 carries and 5 rec/game.

Did Thomas get hurt this year? For some reason, I was thinking he sat out some games??

DAT was injured a couple of games and then in the doghouse for his subpar pass blocking..

He missed a key block against Stanford that kind of took away alot of his snaps afterwards, still Oregon's all time leader in All-purpose yards

Yeah, I think you're being a homer if you really think Notre Dame will use this kid better than Oregon. The proof is in the pudding.

So in 2012 Riddick avg. 99 yds/game (rushing and rec.)
in 2013 for the 8 games Thomas played in he avg. 93/game.

Oregon undoubtedly has a great offense but to think that Kelly can't isolate guys and put them in positions to have a lot of success is just not accurate. When we have a singular player that deserves the touches Kelly does a fantastic job of getting them the ball in positions to be successful. Floyd, Eifert, Riddick, and TJ Jones this year. He had 11 total tds and almost 1200 yds of total offense. Excluding punts.

I think the bigger issue is that Oregon is much more explosive, which grabs people's attention and leads to the belief that they would be better.

Perhaps a way to view it is yards per touch instead of yards per game. DT average 7.1 yards per touch from the LOS. Not knowing off the top of my head, but I would imagine he had quite a few runs that were 20+ yards and even 40+ yards. Those are the plays that everyone remembers and draws attention.
