I always thought from his film that he had elite speed and quickness.

I thought he had elite quickness and good speed, but you never really know with such a small sample size. Too many breakdowns during these All Star events as everyone but the center is still learning assignments.

Noticed while watching the under armour game that they listed him as an ND commit after one of his plays.

Big KO return by McKenzie leads to a TD. I cringe every time someone says he's an ND verbal.

he's going to blow up after this weekend...he will no longer be sleeper and even if he doesn't end up at Tennessee imo he'll end up at another SEC school that doesn't need to worry about grades or over signing.

good luck to him and best wishes against all except ND

OK, I haven't followed this super close and dopn't feel like re reading 20 pages to try and figure this out, reps to anyone who can help here...

1- It's a test, and no school can currently take him with his current scores correct??

2- Is there any hope of this working out with ND or did something definitive happen??

If he's really serious about retaking the standardized tests and improves a bunch and is willing to wait till March for test results and etc. despite SEC offers than maaaybeeee.... (fingers crossed)

How bad do test scores need to be in order to not be able to get admitted to any school?

I guess there are some big obstacles but it would be really nice if he somehow pulled this out.

i wanna feel bad for the kid, but him suddenly wanting to get into ND with his academic pedigree is like me suddenly wanting to take my 3.8 gpa and 20 ACT my sr year and wanting to get into Yale or Harvard.

Depends on your GPA.

I'm not sure what those ACT scores mean because when I took it in 2006, it was out of 36.

I knew fencers at ND with ACTs in the low 20s. I don't think we're talking about anything even in that ballpark.

There are three sections each worth 36 though.

Four sections, if I remember correctly. But they gave you a composite that was either your average or some kind of formula. I remember specifically getting a 34 "overall", not anything added together.

You're right. Four sections, not including the writing portion. Mea culpa. But I know that they give you a composite score, but I imagine that schools (and you) have access to see the individual section scores. Again, I imagine that this is what it is.

You watched some ND football players with ACTs in the high teens and they graduated with an ND degree.

“@TJamesNDI: #NotreDame WR target Isaiah McKenzie said #Tennessee and #Florida have reached out to him this week. Still wants to be Irish if he can.”

I love Isaiah McKenzie.

How ironic is it that the kid who's academics indicate he's not 'smart' enough to come to ND, is one of the extremely few kids in the country that actually 'gets it'?

On top of that I know American Heritage is no cake walk of a school. Like many private schools a middling GPA there could be much higher in many public school systems. The sliding scale really doesn't take into consideration a great school vs a garbage system. I hope he can get things worked out but at this late juncture I doubt we see him suit up. It's sad, but I will always be cheering this guy on. Hopefully his dream of playing big time football can still be found.

This is sadly very true. My freshman year, the dean had to beat down the door of UConn's admissions office to explain that the captain of our football team's GPA was much more impressive than if he'd had the same scores at some of the other schools in the area (we were even graded on a different scale so a C at a public school was an F at ours, and we didn't use a 4.0 scale). No idea if Heritage has similar policies, but there's a reason you see a lot of kids transferring high schools their last couple years. If McKenzie can cut it, I hope he has people in his corner.
