My advice to him would be don't get caught up in the pageantry of NSD.

You can make your decision in April for all we care, just make sure you exhaust all of your options and be sure of what you choose.

This is the kind of kid an SEC school signs, waits to see if they can get qualified over the summer, and if they can't they stash them in a JUCO and try to pick them back up in 2 years.

Just a shame he didn't have better academic guidance earlier in his HS career.

Isaiah McKenzie is short, but were not asking him to change the light bulbs. He's electric & makes the big plays.

Is it more than just test scores? Hypothetically, if he does well on his SAT in January, could he be admitted to ND then or is he missing other things as well? This kid really wants to be at ND and feel so bad that he cannot. Like Kuehnja said, he has until April to make a decision.

Going off on twitter a bit that he isn't starting in the UA game. I might have to agree that their is favoritism in who starts.

Keep it to yourself Isaiah.

If he is going to complain about not starting in an All-Star game that's not a good sign...

Unfortunately it is a name game and he has been unreal this week so since he isn't a 5*..he's frustrated and rightfully so

A ND fan (bbakeso3) is helpfully trying to talk his frustration down.

Sorry, but that's all the news I can report.

Not about who starts, it's about who finishes. Not saying he doesn't deserve to start but publicly complaining about it is a red flag IMO. Won't be a Domer so it doesn't matter I guess.

I've changed my position on Nelson v McKenzie. McKenzie is just a playmaker no matter what his size or top end speed.

Good for him. If he can't go to ND at least now maybe he can play somewhere better than Rutgers and in the SEC

But does that mean he can actually get cleared to play for Tennessee? Isn't the issue that his test scores are not high enough to clear the NCAA Clearinghouse or whatever that entity is called? I know he can re-take the test but probably not before signing day or at least he won't get the scores back by then. I hope it works out for him, though. He is an amazing talent and it would really suck if he couldn't follow his dreams because of this. But that's life.

Tennessee will do what ND won't. Sign him, figure shit out later. Like what they're doing with many of their 40 recruits or whatever.

They'll let McKenzie sign on the dotted line in February and let him continue to try to meet NCAA minimums all the way up until the fall semester starts.

If he gets an adequate Test Score on the NCAA's sliding scale to go along with whatever his GPA is before next season then he would be eligible for a scholarship. However he could walkon at any program that wants to accept him but he would have to pay his own way.

The point that many continue to miss is that the NCAA Admission Requirements pertain to Eligibilty to receive an Athletic Scholarship.

But how realistic is the possibility that he could walk on? If he can not meet the guidelines for a scholarship, would he be able to get in as a regular student? I would think that the requirements are even stricter for most universities with non-scholarship students. I don't know about many schools across the country but take Texas for example. You have to be in the top of your class to qualify for them. It used to be top 10% but I know they lowered that awhile back. I don't know what the SAT minimum score is but I am sure it is higher than the NCAA's requirement. I do hope it works out for him and likely he will have to up that test score because I can't see him enrolling in a D1 school as a walkon.

They just attempted a bomb to him that was way overthrown, but he blew by the CB and the S had no chance. He can fly.

Are you sure? When we offered it was pretty well established that he was really quick, but lacked top end speed. Good but not great tape... Hyberbolic praise from teammates... Lack of top tier offers... We were overreaching.

I bet the coaches are excited to discover that he is really fast...
