100% agree with this comment, its comical how this happens.

Personally, I am disappointed, would have loved to see him at ND but I respect that he didn't drag this on and from everything I read, he handled it with class by reaching out to ND.

per II update, the coaches told Elam it was going to be hard to move on from him and was going to force them to move to a 4-3.

Also said that the coaches would be willing to go to bat for him if he wanted ND enough, because his GPA and ACT weren't up to standards, but he didn't want ND

LOL. I don't know what to take from the coaches telling him that it would force us to a 4-3. Even with him, he would not be ready to make a positive impact, and we would most likely be in a 4-3 most the time anyway.

It makes me wonder why we are bashing a high school kid for having a big ego and retweeting everything when coaches from one of the premier CFB programs told him they would have to abandon their entire campaign and switch schemes if he doesn't commit. It's no wonder these kids think they walk on water. Imagine the other stuff they hear on visits, hell, I bet Saban said "We'll have you in a D Cup by September if you put the time in here."

The problem is we've whiffed on too many NT the last few classes. NT is the cornerstone of a 3-4. It's THE most important position in that formation. If you don't have NT, you don't have 3-4. Even if he wouldn't be ready to play right away, it's sealing our future fate by not having someone lined up.

All this being said, I believe we will develop two player that can play the nose at a high level whether we are in a four or three man front, one or two gap, even or odd. One is on scholarship and a preferred walk on. Mark it down.

FWIW, TJ at II said that Elam is playing very loose with the facts in this situation. Some of what he's saying isn't entirely fact. Won't get into specifics but ND is not going to a 4-3. Client prefers a base 3-4 with the ability to switch into a 4-3. This isn't changing that at this time.

IMO the players we've picked up in this class translate much more to a 4-3. Maybe they already saw the writing on the wall.
