40 time = high 4.7 (back during this summer)

Says he's improved his time.

If I had to guess, I would say that is around the same time Golson ran last year. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Barnett ran the 40 in the high 4.5s to low 4.6 range by the time he got here

I've seen this only tangentially addressed here, but how big is his high school -- ie, are they in the top category by size or what? nd is their conference a high quality one?

i know they played mission vejo and they always seem to play top notch football and produce big time players :)wave: redfield)

The competition he plays against is as good as any in the West. In fact, his league is generally considered the third best league in Southern California and one of the top five leagues in the state of California. And Santiago always plays one of the most challenging schedules of any team in California in the non-league portion, so he’s going against elite teams and defenses weekly.

Also Blake gave Jake Brown at II a killer quote, IMO. When asked about the pressure or spotlight of being QB at ND, Blake responds "I like that because either way it's a pressure. Half the world hates you and half the world loves you, but everyone cares, right?

Some serious insight from a 16 year old. Kid's gonna be a star.

That is awesome for a junior in high school to say. He is going to be a fan favorite i do believe.

How up to date are his rankings? I usually don't get too excited about guys that are pretty much consensus 3 stars, but I watched his highlight video and I actually think he is underrated.

They are up to date in regards to where he is ranked right now, but basically every site said he will be moving up when they update rankings.

He's a 4 star with a 247 composite rating of 90. He is also rumored to be a guy that is going to raise even higher in the following weeks.

He's one of, if not THE, best QB's in the class.

This happens a lot at this stage. I remember about this time last year watching Joe Mixon's highlights and thinking he was criminally underrated ... and then sure enough he bounced up into top 100 territory. Same with Ezekiel Elliot before him. Those two are just off the top of my head; the examples are legion. Thomas Holley would be another.

Just saying, no one should view his current rankings as a red flag.

I would like to add Justin Brent to that list.

These were the highlights from his tough playoff loss. Get 'em next year, Blake.

I watched Rees make some of those same throws this year. Barnett is a HS junior and made them look easier than Rees did.

That scramble for a TD pass at 2:21 was awesome.

Tough loss though, he looked like he and his team played their hearts out. Liked at the end the opposing player gave him a hand up even though the game was over.

Those deep outs looked niiiiiiiice.

And he busted out the Johnny Manziel around the 2:25 mark. The read option TD was awesome too.

Dayne Crist may have been *underwhelming*, but he DID know how to run the zone-read in the redzone pretty well. Barnett reminded me of Dayne with the fake and stretching the run out to the goalline.... but the difference is Barnett could complete a basic out pattern lol.

Those 2 strikes and that long ball near the end of the clip is better than Tommy's IMO.

This is exciting.
