Damien played RT LT and OG from what I saw on Friday. Last year at the coliseum when we played SC I saw the AD from his high school in Irish gear! I will be going to a Bosco game in the next few weeks as its my dads alma mater. They are so stacked its not even fair

My roommate at ND was a Bosco grad and is very active in the Alumni Association there, they are stacked, and those kids are prepared for Notre Dame academics, we need to start pulling a few. Mama would be a great start. Then Rosen.

Bryce Treggs would have been nice too. Lol

I'll go against the grain and say Mama first. A guy that big that can open holes means a good running game.

JuJu, Luatua, Mama. I think Luatua is the perfect big skill player the staff seems to work well with.

Shumate (and AQM if he could have gotten his academic house in order). How quickly we forget...

Wrong Bosco. That one is in NJ.

Does anybody know if/when Mama is officialing anywhere else? I know Bama is on Nov 8 but I didn't know if he was checking out any other schools. Obviously he could unofficial to USC and UCLA easily and use 2 OVs out-of-state.

Different first names St. John Bosco on the left coast and Don Bosco on the right.

Are they cousins?

On Mama: It appears he's mostly being recruited as an offensive lineman, but is there a reasonable chance he turns around and plays D? With that size and quickness, he's kind of got "next Louis Nix" written all over him. Or is there someone else who switches over if he comes on? We're pretty full on the O Line, but we really need a War Daddy at nose.

If you guys had to choose between the Cali kids in order of want. How would you rank them? For GB

1. JuJu
2. Mama
3. Luatua

The crazy thing is that none of them are at positions of desperate need.

JuJu Smith is at safety, where Refield and Shumate both have years of eligibility left. Damien Mama is at OG, and OL recruiting has been spectacular. Tyler Luatua is at TE, which is pretty set with young talent right now.

I'd probably rank them how you have them though, regardless.

Question for OMM, Does Mama being that large conflict with our style of offense? I know he is a good athlete, but we would like to go no huddle sometimes as well as going and getting backers at the second level may be difficult. I know he is a stud and the ratings back that but does he completely fit?

Honestly, it's pretty rare for a freshman lineman to come in and play immediately. He would have time to get the Louis Nix treatment when it comes to weight.

you guys think Mama will struggle with his weight ALOT in college? Also Elam too, you think these guys need a lot of work to get into proper D1 football shape.

Elam will need a year in the weight room and a year away from the cafeteria to be ready to play. I would suspect the coaching staff would have him on a strict diet. Mama could probably pack his weight better. And his weight would be less of a factor since he is on the OL.

Besides, OL rarely starts on the first year. Elam would have an opportunity to get in there at ND, though I agree with Tommy about him being a year away.

I'm not sure the staff has the luxury of redshirting Elam given the depth at nose tackle. IMO, if they can get 15-25 quality reps from him, he's playing right away.

Elam needs a year because he is just not in playing shape. Now let's face it Mama needs to cut off a few but I remember how impressed the rivals mods were when he was doing his thing in Chicago. He's so light on his feet and quick. One of the best players in the country. IMO he would be a perfect nose guard in the mold of Vinny Wilfork or Terrance Cody. Heck even Big Lou, but him and Montelus would be two road graders.

Mama and Nelson both play with a mean streak and finish blocks. They'd pile up bodies all over the field for three years. It would be glorious.
