well it sounds as if Braden is out of the picture so I'm for it if ND can snatch up an official from this big guy and even better, a commitment.

I assume we shouldn't read anything into the fact that there are no Cali schools on that list?

I assume it's the USC game. Does he say he's definitely visiting?

According to Rivals Mama says ND and BYU are pushing hard for a visit. But according to Gorney his grades are suspect for ND. TWIW.

According to this he plans visit for USC even though I don't think it is officially set

Mama and Moten ISD Recruiting Week in Review

Damien Mama, 6-5, 350, St. John Bosco High School, Bellflower, CA has narrowed his list to eight schools from over thirty scholarship offers. Notre Dame is on that list and is being seriously considered by Mama despite what some may be saying to the contrary.

“I’ve narrowed my list down to eight schools and I’ll probably narrow it down further after the season,” said the four-star prospect. “The schools that are in my top eight are Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Alabama, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio State and BYU.”

Mama (pictured) also addressed the rumors that he was only paying lip service to the Irish.

“I’m definitely considering Notre Dame and you should know I’m serious about them because they’re in my top eight and that’s out of over thirty schools,” he explained. Notre Dame’s a great institution and you can get an unbelievable education there, so I have to consider them.”

Mama continued.

“I’m coming from a Catholic school, so the fact that they’re a Catholic institution influences my interest in them a lot. They also have a great alumni network system that will help you long after you’re done with football.”

Mama’s next exposure to Notre Dame will be an official visit scheduled for this fall and he won’t be coming alone. Accompanying him on the trip will be at least two other California prospects that are also being heavily recruited by the Irish.

“I’m definitely looking forward to taking a trip up there for the USC game,” Mama said. “I’ll be coming up with Tyler Luatua and Juju Smith. We talk and joke around a lot about all of us playing together at the same school, but in the end we know it’s a decision that we must each make ourselves and choose what’s best for each of us and our families.”

Mama also made it clear that distance would not play a factor in his final decision.

“I can tell you that distance is definitely not going to play a factor in my decision,” he informed. “Being able to see another culture and experience the atmosphere of another place could be pretty nice, but we’ll see.”

Can we get a Juju, Mama, and Luatua commit that weekend? Oh... and Tommy trucking over an SC DB for a TD? Great. Thanks.

Mama, Quick, "Juju" and Luatua will go together to Tuscaloosa against LSU. They will be together in South Bend (along with Erik Brown too) and Tuscaloosa so i found this very interesting. Alabama vs ND battle for Cali kids. For the first time, Nick Saban is pushing very hard in California. I think they never had four offical visits for four top prospects out of California.

Not to bring up a sore subject but there was a time not so long ago that Alabama and Notre Dame were battling for a certain elite defensive lineman from California. There were twists and turns, but let's just say in the end he stayed closer to home.
Everyone says distance doesn't matter, until it does.

Unfortunately, I feel an Elmer situation in favor of USC on this one. I certainly hope I am wrong.
