So, is that ASU being cocky or desperate? I know the Devils are supposed to be tough this season, but I just can't sweat this game as hard as so many other people are. They were 8-5 last year and only 3rd in their conference. I'm not saying it'll be a gimmee for the Irish, but, c'mon people. As others have posted, ASU has to wade through Wisconsin, USC, and Stanford before they get to our guys. If they go 3-0 through that stretch, then I'll start popping the TUMS.

I think the problem is that Arizona State is the 6th straight game on our slate, and the 5th game in a series that goes Michigan, Purdue, Michigan State, and then Oklahoma. We'll probably be a bit beat up by the time we get to ASU, as well as tired, and looking forward to the bye week following...which also leads into USC. It may be easy to overlook a tough ASU team that will probably be improving under Graham. Not to mention Graham has caught us off guard before.

I'm only worried because Todd Graham has out-coached Kelly pretty badly their last two meetings IMO. Of course Kelly isn't the same guy from 2010.

But as BlackIrish noted, ASU plays Wisconsin, USC and Stanford right before us, so they'll be at least as beat up (probably more so) heading into it. I'm also not very worried about the team "looking ahead" to USC, since we have a bye-week before it.

That's legitimate. Graham has had Kelly's number in the only two games they've played.

ASU's 2012 defense was underrated, and is probably poised for a break-out in 2013. Their offense is less worrisome, though Graham has a reputation as an offensive guru, so some people are predicting a major improvement there as well; though Kelly had a similar reputation heading into ND, and we're still waiting for that breakout year.

It'll probably resemble the 2011 Pitt game.

Actually, Graham is noted as a defensive guru...should be interesting to see what he does with them this year. The schedule leading up to our game is brutal...that may be a factor.

Yeah. Watching this Wisconsin game now. Not super impressed with ASU generally. But I'm sure they'll play up for us...

Wiscy was driving with time running down.. they threw a quick hitch at the ASU 12yd line and got out of bounds where the clock stopped at 18 seconds. They then run a QB sneak to the center line where he gives himself up.. An ASU defender jumps on the ball thinking its a fumble, the refs don't call delay of game.. the Wiscy QB says something to the ref.. the other ref finally places the ball and the clock runs out as Wiscy runs to the line trying to snap the ball.. weird and completely ****ed up.

Sorry for the crappy explanation, I've had a long day of fun.. going to bed.
