So I'm the only immature one here who hopes the kid never starts a down of college football?

i bet he transfers somewhere down the line. Just can't see him being successful, I think he lacks maturity.

Also I noticed today that as as soon as he is made eligible to play this year he reactivates his twitter account.

Have you no bananas?

Have you no bananas?

Why is there such acrimony and resentment on this thread toward UCLA, Mora, the NCAA, and perhaps Eddie Vanderdoes? We all want kids to make the right decision when they go through the college recruiting process. There is an upside in Eddie going to UCLA. We will get to see more of Tyler Stockton, and players that want to take the field for Notre Dame. And, in answer to my question - Yes, we have no bananas!

Here's my final thoughts:

1. I can't believe Mora & Co. so effectively executed this. I'm kind of shocked, awed, and impressed... but more I just hope he has some embarrassing scandal and never coaches again, because I flat out don't like people like him and think that they harm college sports. The guy is in the Kiffin/Meyer/Butch Davis mold of human beings, IMO.

2. It's really, really hard for me to have any ill will at all towards Eddie. At the end of the day, he was a NSD commit who then in a rather complex situation and series of events changed his mind. He then went through the NCAA process, and now has a resolution. He hasn't said anything disparaging about ND in public (that I know about at least) and has, overall, handled the situation publicly in a reasonable way. So best of luck to him.

3. The NCAA is just... wow. Clearly, the burden for appeals is verrrrry low. It's also incredibly subjective and inconsistent. Between their lack of enforcement towards cheaters, lack of consistency, lack of leadership, etc. I just lose more faith in them every day. It's as if they really only exist for legal protection of the colleges and running championships... and everything else to do with the actual governance of the schools and student athletes is handled by a kangaroo court that no one really cares about.

So Mora & Co. gets a big eff you from me. Eddie gets a disappointed sigh and a pat on the back. And the NCAA gets a derisive SMH.

Very well said Lax. I totally agree

Umm, what? No offense to Tyler, but he barely plays and imo was only asked back because of his leadership and lack of NT depth, and sorry but he's no EV.

My two cents, this whole situation is a joke. LAX put it best. Well said.

Can't wait until four years from now UCLA puts another one of the "should be" ND recruits in the NFL via the first round (aka Barr).

I am telling you, the people that spread the cash around to get their way no longer worry about how it looks. We are in a post mores phase of our social evolution.

For about the last thirteen years there has been no cost for breaking the rules, or letting everyone down. After 9-1-1, nobody paid for letting our nation's guard down. The ones that should have were promoted.

When the banks failed, hardly anyone was fired and nobody was prosecuted. After years of everybody seeing that it is easy to get away with such incredible irresponsibility, why should we expect anyone to be responsible. This level of disregard is incredible to me.

The reason there is no justification is that this was a ploy, he is still seven hours away from his family, etc, etc. The situation was not fluid. Any condition he had before, he had after . . . give me Percy Harivn's half @ssed situation any day!

I was just talking about this the other day. It blows my mind and makes me fearful of the future. No morals, no accountability, no standards, etc. Get yours any way you can and deal with the "consequences" (if any) later. What a great lesson we're teaching the youth of this country.

"Money talks, ethics walk, otherwise, fvck you!" I am not kidding or off base when I say that I can clearly see sociopathic dominance abound. It is everywhere. No one has the balls, the work ethic or the conscience to do the right thing.

Re: the NCAA...I'm shocked. The part that's really surprising is this was his final appeal after his first attempt was denied. So the NLI review board denied him and then the Div. 1 review board, with the same info as the NLI review board, granted his appeal. Having dealt with the NCAA on a number of occasions, I'm absolutely shocked with that element of the appeal.

Me to girl at bar:

"Do you want to get out of here?"
"No"

(20 min later)

"Come on, let's go grab a drink at my place."
"NO!"

(20 min later)

"How about that night cap?"
"Okay!"

...If the NCAA ruled the world....

Lax- I agree....but EV is a POS that backed outta a contract he signed.

Hope he never plays a down....and I don't care HOW that happens.

I Wish you and UCLA nothing but the worst, Eddie.

Gotta admit this stings a little. If Eddie wasn't the heir apparent to Big Lou, or at least Tuitt if he really didn't want to play NG, then this would have just been another "Next Man In" situation. We really don't have anyone right now on the roster that has the kind of power that EV would have brought to the position. His experience this year would have allowed him to transition nicely for Big Lou or Tuitt, now we're going to have to wait at least a year to break one of the new recruits in. What a waste of a scholarship, we could have picked someone else up...and UCLA gets to start him right away with no penalty. I'm not going to show any ill will towards EV, but **** Mora.

C'mon Pat. We all get fired up over this stuff but it's a game at the end of the day. There is no reason to wish ill on your fellow man for such a trivial reason.

I just got the notification on my phone and I was shocked. I knew he'd get to UCLA, but I didn't think there was any way he'd be playing this year. Damn it.

Cal is the only school this kid should've been released to. It's close to his home, it's a good school, and we don't play them. It meets the criteria ND should "half" had in place.

I still can't believe they let him off the hook.

Maybe the better question is why is Davidson arguing back?

I agree he shouldn't be, he's gotten too close to this situation as a reporter but this dude Spanky (even if he's right) is a little out of control
