I think that if we see a lot of Zaire or Hendrix it's going to be a LONG season.

I thought about this while playing NCAA last night... with all the doom and gloom about Rees from some of this fanbase... think about what happens if Rees gets hurt against Temple....................

you're welcome.

Rees is the most important player on the team right now in terms of needing to stay healthy... moreso than Lou or Tuitt imo... becasue if not him, then?.......

Well, it would be awesome if Rees played his way into a later round draft pick. I wouldnt complain about that at all. :) Highly unlikely to happen, but still, fun to think about.

I agree, highly unlikely. Rees reminds me of Chris Leak. He has what it takes to be a good college QB, but he doesn't have the physical ability to be a good pro. He might earn a tryout as a UDFA but I really can't see him being drafted.

Incidentally, as I've said before on the board, I would LOVE to see a little bit of 2006 Florida Gators Chris Leak/Tim Tebow QB shuffling with Rees and Hendrix. Don't know if it will happen, but I'd be excited to see the staff try it.

I have been following recruiting too long... I remember following Leak when he was one of the top QBs coming out of HS... he's been gone for how long now??? time flies

always argumentative man, never did i disagree but thanks for pointing out the obvious to me yet again

U quoted my post, so I assumed you were responding to me saying I don't think Hendrix should have packages.

you did say rees all the way right?

if your post is wired it isn't always a bad thing bro. i just wad adding that i hole we take care of temple, navy, Purdue which gets Hendrix some time on the field again.

i think he could use it after a year of scout team as he is an injury away of being THE guy.

What kills me about this is to the SEC, USC and random 'fan' I encounter, this is a laughing stock situation for ND and EG... "How could they kick their QB off the team just when they were coming back?!!... stupid *** Notre Dame."

that's a fairly generic and typical statement I tend to hear on this... most fans truly couldn't give two shits, this is NFL football lite... win. games.

I love hearing stuff like that from other teams' fans. That is what makes ND different. I think it is worse when there is a situation like Mike Floyd's (which I think was handled correctly by ND) that causes other fans to say we're just like them. I WANT opposing fans to know why and how we are different.

@BGI_LouSomogyi: Per Kelly on WSBT, talks with Golson once per week, Chuck Martin talks with him 2-3 times per week. Don't want him playing JC this year.

@BGI_LouSomogyi: Per Kelly on WSBT, biggest goal for Golson is have him around right people and right environment so he can return in January.

They are clearly closely monitoring this situation and basically dictating the terms. Which makes my confidence in him coming back and ready to play, very high.

Interesting... I wonder if/when he begins working with that QB guru he was rumored to work with...

I remember when this story first broke, and when explaining what happened to the usc-types I speak with; the blank look of true bewilderment on their faces was priceless. the line that always made them look that way was, "This didn't come from the NCAA, it was done by the University. The NCAA has nothing to do with this."

they all had that kiffin face and a 'does not compute" look.

Yeah, the more i talk to just random people through work, friends, family, whatever i learn that maybe half of those people who claim to be CFb 'fans' don't even know about ND's academic history or how it relates to football... they aren't even aware of it really... It's just a football team that once once good and not anymore... until last season...

that's pretty much it.

Now of course there are those that understand the situation fully... but I find it's really close to a 50/50 split... not among PEOPLE but among college football FANS...

I would venture to guess the split is much greater than that. Some may disagree with this, but to the masses (people and CFB fans), ND does not have a distinguishable academic reputation. When people think of ND they think of football, Catholics and Rudy, probably in that order.

If you ask B1G members, Notre Dame's academic reputation isn't on par with any of them since we're not AAU members. :eek:hwhateve

Those universities are primarily massive research centers whose supreme academic reputation holds up the tens of thousands of other students who are quite average and in education or whatnot. Notre Dame simply isn't that type of school (and thus judged by different metrics in my opinion), which Jack Swarbrick stated when they joined the ACC.

Not in Los Angeles. ND has a really, really good reputation as far as academics with lots of people I would talk to. And any non-Raider USC fan would tell me all the time that f their kids got into ND they'd make sure they went there.

I can't speak for the rest of the nation, but I worked across the street from USC for 11 years, wore my ND gear all the time, and those were the responses I would get. Now, the idiot USC fans, like the ones Acamp was talking about, yeah, well, those guys are idiots lol. But my wife's ND degree opened a lot of doors for her...

There's been a shitstorm of bad things happening at ND lately (and some good, obviously), and Brian Kelly has handled it like a grown *** man. He never flinches, and whether or not he stays and wins, loses, or leaves us for a NFL gig or somewhere else in college, I've gained so much respect for him as a man and a coach. We're damn lucky to have him as our coach. I'm not close to the situation, but just the way he presents himself, the team, the players, and the University, I don't want another coach in the country in our corner and that's including Saban. If we're lucky enough to hold on to him for 5 more years, ND is going to stay at the top.

Lil late! But damn ya sure hit the nail with that post! Props!
