PANDFAN and the UPSH are absloutely correct. If O'Brien has success and rallies the troops, they will treat him as the next Paterno.

Uh, no, it isn't......while I understand your disdain for anything PSU football, it's not good for college football to have a traditional power dismantled as is the case. I know they brought this kn themselves, however, I just don't see this as being good for the landscape of the college ranks.

I understand where you're coming from but if you know as many Penn State fans as some people on this board including me, you know they love to hate Notre Dame and they love to see them suffer losing seasons. So I have to compasison for them.

Thread seems to have nothing or little to do with Dorian Johnson [and quite a bit to do about rather base emotions]. In a vain attempt to redirect: Although a previous poster is correct about Darius Latham as a potential DT, this fellow was thought by some as having outstanding DT potential himself. Notre Dame has filled almost everything in its foundational position array [elite CB possibly excepted] and is looking for "a few good men". The D-Line could use a BIG. Who knows what the staff thinks at this stage or what Johnson thinks, but this guy is a full-grown-man waiting to happen, and if Diaco thinks so [I know nothing about this] I'd love to see another Earth-mover added to the defense. I agree that five is perfect for O-Line, and six too crowded [although Hoke doesn't seem to think that way.] But we can easily use another DL this cycle, and they are hard to come by.

I think the thing that jumps off the page about Dorian is his quickness and straight line speed. His forty is reported as under 4.8 by some sources as I remember! I don't know how to evaluate his lateral movement, (a real asset with say, Tony Springman, for example). And I don't know about his work ethic or other intangibles as the Kelly staff rates recruits, however.

Will Dorian even be interested? In filling JP's opening, so to speak, at ND, who sort of left him out in the cold?

I bet the coaches saw it coming. I bet they see a couple more.

Would love to reach out to this kid. From what I remember he is awesome on the defensive side as well. What's to lose here? He is a talented lineman on both sides of the ball and we could plug him in where he is needed the most.

Are you thinking of Darius Latham? I haven't heard of anyone recruiting Dorian for defense. That's not to say no one is; I'm no NDPhilly or GITF.

If I remember correctly, we recruited Dorian for offensive line and when we got five OL we stopped recruiting him or at least cooled off. With the departure of Jordan Prestwood and with Dorian's athletic ability I'm merely suggesting why not reach out to him? I think you could plug him on either side of the ball.

You guys know that we are not going to pick up another offensive lineman. The staff probably knows that Jordan wants to cut back. Historically, it takes a semester for those successuful. Pat Kuntz is the prototype for this. In that case there is no need for another lineman.

Also, things went south for Dorian, at the visit. Coach Kelly doesn't usually revisit them.

Chase Hounshell says otherwise lol. Just my opinion, but I hope we go after another if possible, but I do agree with you that it won't be Dorian. Just seems like the staff wasn't enamored.

I read my statement. Some times I say what I was thinking; not what I mean. What my statement should have said is things went south with the staff recruiting Dorian. I didn't mean that Dorian didn't like the Irish. I mean that the news reports even made it clear that for some reason Dorian faced a we will get back to you moment. You could pm me what Chase said. I'm just sayin' . . .

Possible what ironman was alluding to was when Chase was posting negative stuff about ND and then like a month or so later he ends up visiting and committing...if u look at his thread its in there

Two Ohio State visits on deck for Johnson

looks like urban's sitting pretty here...two visits lined up.

hate that they're having a good year even though their schedule is fricking weak...VERY possible and likely imo that they finish undefeated.

And sitting on the 'sidelines' watching during bowl season. Within a couple years their weak azz schedule won't carry them too far regarding the "final four"!
