Conveniently, Catholic theology has created a place for athlete's like Nathan Starks. It's called limbo! That is, if he can ever find a way out of the purgatory he has gotten himself into.

“@JHopkins247: I'm betting money that Nathan Starks @Nate_Starks ends up at a premier HS program in Cali like Serra or other.”

He dropped 100 spots in the new 247 rankings. He's now a :s::s::s::s: 93 and 127 overall. That drops his composite to 66 overall. For reference, Hood is 47 overall on the composite.

They said it was only because his future is up in the air which to me shouldn't effect his current evaluation but maybe when they evaluate after the season but whatevs

I agree it shouldn't affect his evaluation. They rank kids that can barely read very high so why not Starks too?

I hear you. It makes you wonder if perhaps they took into consideration character issues, but I don't know. All the same, hopes he is successful wherever he ends up.

I have to side with 247 on this one. Part of the evaluation is future success not just current ability. And IF he loses an entire season that will affect his development.

One of the main reasons Tuitt was above Lynch in the 2011 rankings was because of his baggage according to Farrell on Rivals.

Whatever ND decides to do will be the right decision. I don't really understand this whole situation so it's too much for me to comment on.

Very positive outlook on the situation by you, Title. I agree to an extent. I have faith that when it comes to judgement calls our staff will make the right one, but just because they make that decision doesn't always make it the right one.

They know much more about the situation than I do though (and not to mention I have no say in the matter) so I leave this one up to them, and I think/hope they will make the right decision.

Top 2 of ND and OU. USC dropped him

Said Alford has been like a role model for him and is 100% in his corner

Looking at Burbank or Serra for HS, both in CA

Blurb on ND since this is so high profile, courtesy of 24/7.

“I’m really close with coach (Tony) Alford (of Notre Dame). He’s been a great role model, he’s leading me in the direction I need to go... He said he’s in my corner 100%, he’s going to help me and guide me, help me get back on my feet and everything. He realized that the situation is bad, I’m seventeen and I made a mistake. He tells me to keep working, keep my grades up, and everything will be good.”

I would expect Alford to do this even if we "dropped" him as well. He is a guy that shows these kids he cares for them outside of football. Class act.

Exactly. I am sure when he says "everything will be good" he is not specifically talking about with ND, but in general for Nathan as he looks to move forward with this. Just an all around great guy that Tony is.

Exactly, which is why I still personally don't take this as a concrete sign that he has an actionable offer from us. I think if he still wanted to come to ND the timetable is going to be stretched considerable further than he may want, giving ND ample time to make sure they have all their basis covered and are 100% comfortable with the situation at hand and Nathan's response and growth to this situation.

When asked if ND is still recruiting Starks, TJ34 said depends on your definition of "recruiting". Starks and ND maintain communication but he needs to get his stuff (high school, issues etc) sorted out before any real recruiting.

I read that Nathan has admitted he made a mistake, I think he realizes he may have placed his future in jeopardy. I believe you judge a guy by how he deals with his adversities. The next year will be huge in the development of this young man, and whether he winds up Irish or not I will be hoping this will positively impact his maturation. If he works his way back and earns the trust of those around him, I will be a big fan.
