Farrell jokes aside, anyone calling Peppers a "heavy lean" anywhere prior to his Stanford visit is premature at best. Very well may end up at Michigan.... but come on, Farrell.

I don't doubt that he liked Michigan more than LSU/Ohio State though.

at this point in his career i see farrell as more of an overall "national recruiting scene" type of guy (a modern day tom lemming if you will)...i no longer follow any of his predictions, hes a coin flip guy to me... for the predictions based on hard and true info i i go to the "beat guys" ala sapp, wiltfong, mccollum etc (and also our very own TP)

That's a shame we will be playing against this guy if he goes to Michigan. I watched a video of him recently and he does not look like a corner. He looks like a 4-3 LB. Michigan is getting a good one here.

This is our last year playing them, no?

It's no secret Michigan leads for Peppers by a lot so he is really going out a limb here. He is usually money with east coast guys but other regions he sometimes struggles. It's a Michigan vs Stanford battle I would love to get a visit but I don't see it at the moment.

Time is not on Michigan's side in this one but they definitely lead right now. Think a late decision from guys like Hand and Peppers hurts their chances with them.

Why are people ("experts" and IE posters) saying Michigan leads? Have I missed a list/quote from Jabrill that indicates they've overtaken Stanford?

It seems he's been pretty consistent with Stanford as his #1. Regardless, I really like ND's chances here.

I take it you don't have premium to 247, Rivals, or Scout?

Mike Farrell said on twitter today that Peppers is a pretty heavy Michigan lean and that OSU/LSU have dropped down his list.

Steve Witflong over at 247 just posted like 2 hours ago in premium that Jabrill might be moving up his timeline and that he's basically down to Stanford and Michigan.

ND's chances with Peppers have been on life support for awhile now.

If we wanted Jabrill, we would need to be recruiting him as hard as Michigan is recruiting him, and we're not.

I don't have any premium subscriptions. Posters on this site are usually great about summarizing premium updates.

I saw Farrell's tweet about a "great source" saying he was a Michigan lean, but I don't put much stock into reports unless it comes directly from the player. I had not seen the Witflong post (maybe the first time IE posters let me down). Did he talk to or quote Jabrill in the update?

Either way, ND has been listed every time Jabrill talks about his top 5, which is consistently shuffled with the exception of Stanford being #1.

After all the talk of a 'commitment party' with his teammates, I find it hard to believe he will be announcing anytime soon (again, without having read the latest Witflong update). My guess is we get him on campus for an OV and, based on that and his comments about what he's looking for in a school, I like our chances.

Also, I read somewhere he's looking for stability in the coaching staff. If Diaco can look him in the eye and say he'll be at ND for his 4 years, as I assume Kelly did during his January visit, then that will be big. If he can't do that, our chances are slim.

Recruiting is a marathon, not a sprint. This one won't be over until December/January and I trust the staff.

I had a conversation with DomeLover last week, who if you remember, is friends with some of Jabrill's friends and is very plugged into the PC and Don Bosco kids. He told me that Peppers is as good as gone and likened him to Lynch's ego problem. DomeLover guesses either OSU or Mich and he is a NSD decision.

My thought from our conversation is that I would not be surprised if he ends up at a school not really even on his radar right now. With some of the reported issues with him, I don't see a school like Stanford taking him and could very likely see him switch to a SEC or TamU type of school. Just my 2 cents.

We didn't want him anyway.

What I don't get: If he's deciding between Michigan and Stanford, why aren't we more in the picture? They're probably the two most like us of any big-time programs. He's from a high school where we've had success in the past.
Is he really that big a headcase that we dropped him?

He's not a headcase and we didn't drop him. We're just being out recruited for Peppers, as for example we are out recruiting Michigan for Braden Smith.

Then why did he say he hadn't heard from ND in quite some time?

Now, we might've "dropped" him because we knew we weren't going to win the race and I'm guessing the staff would take his commitment in a heart beat if he had legit interest in ND... but your statement is a bit misleading. As far as I'm aware, if our staff isn't in regular contact with you than you're not being recruited, period.

I don't recall him saying he hasn't talked to ND in quite some time. If he did then I retract my statement. Last I saw ND was in contact, just not as much as Michigan or Stanford. Last update was April 5 and we were still in his top 5 and he is targeting a summer visit to ND

He did. Which is surprising, because you're the MVP of this board the last few months and on top of everything recruiting related. When I have some time tomorrow, I'll try to dig up the quote... it's on 247 or ISD and people got all angry about it ("WTF!! WHY ISN'T THE STAFF CALLING HIM!?!")

This isn't sarcasm either, mang. You've stepped it up. Good job lately.

I thought the quote said that we just weren't coming after him as hard - not that ND had cut off contact.
