Guy clearly knew what he was doing was wrong because he acted completely different when the AD was there.

If he calls a bad play one of the players should just knock him out.

That's what I'm saying. Half of those players could probably whoop his ***. I hope one of the players really gives it to him and then on top of that, gets fired

“@BraxstonCave52: I RESPECT coaches. BUT With that said if a grown man put his hands on me like the coach from Rutgers I would rip his heart out of his chest.”

I would imagine they all can whoop his ***.

Looks like perfectly fine method of coaching to me. Molding of men.

I don't know what he seems to gain from putting hands on a player, the other thing though is that I am surprised the players never tried to pull away or back away from him. They just let him push them around.

Now that this has gone viral they might as well fire him. Should have to start with.

Now that the video is out there and the story will get publicity I think very likely that Rice will be fired and perhaps the AD will be forced out with him.

I thought I read earlier today that one of his assistance tried reporting it and was fired, and now intends to sue.

I have no problem with the verbal abuse... You expect that if you are around big time ball.

But you don't put your hands in kids in that way. Unacceptable.

I agree with people saying he should get his *** kicked. He's pushing guys twice his size from behind. He's begging to get Rudy Tomjanovich'd.

Watch the Outside the Lines piece w the NJ State College AD. He says that Murdoch wasn't fired, but rather he didn't have his contract renewed in part because of insubordination. What a crock of Sh*t. If my kid was getting abused like that, I'd be on the court throwing my own haymakers. Disgraceful that he only got a 3 game suspension and a fine.

You are the only one who said this, and although I don't agree completely, I respect your opinion. When the verbal abuse issue was brought up in a thread about Brian Kelly a couple of years ago, that thread had a completely different tune. Nearly everyone defended him and only a few of us called BS.

That said, I completely agree with your thoughts that you don't put your hands on kids. That is so far over the line it isn't even funny.

Verbal and physical abuse has no place in coaching.

You can yell at, and you can even touch players, but not to the extent of it being abusive. I cannot believe this guy made it to a college head coaching position.

How do the parents tolerate this? This is absolutely ridiculous. Just makes me appreciate coaches like Brad Stevens a lot more now.

It's not even Kelly I would be worried about on our Coaching staff lol. I've heard some things about Heistand from friends inside Tennessee's program. Nothing physical obviously, that's a big no-no. But I had two team managers tell me he was the meanest, most confrontational, and most filth-mouthed coach they've ever seen/heard.

Now me? I like that in a OL coach. But other people feel differently.

I have no problems with coaches yelling at players, talking about their play, even cussing, but belittling them on a personal level is taking it too far.

Eh. Is this guy an *******? Yes. Is his coaching style likely counter productive? Yes.

But he isn't that far over the line. I think I'm not too bothered with this because they are college students. But I would have a huge problem with this if these were kids.
