First off, I really didnt know where to put this thread and it seems all of the basketball talk resided in the ND Athletics Section. Anyhow does anyone else believe this kid really doesnt need college and could dominate right now in the NBA. He recently released his senior hooptape and is of course the #1 prospect for his year.

Edit: i cant seem to embed his tape but heres the link...

Absolutely needs college. His entire highlight reel included one shot from outside the paint, and he wouldn't be able to get in there much against NBA-level talent and strength. No doubt he's got the natural tools, but the history of the NBA draft has tons of busts that were a lot like him.

That was literally jaw-dropping. Like, at one point while watching that tape I realized my mouth was just hanging open. His leaping ability and explosiveness is off the charts. Cartoonish athleticism. Totally absurd.

He's pretty slight for the NBA though. He needs to add strength before he is ready to play at that level.

Wiggins could play and play well in the NBA tomorrow if given the opportunity. 6'8", 205 pounders who look like they're playing SlamBall instead of real basketball don't grow on trees. Add to that excellent ball-handling ability, a solid stroke from outside, and the fact Wiggins would undoubtedly be the #1 overall pick in this year's draft, and you've got a guy who is clearly ready for pro basketball.

Do you suppose that he might eventually wind up with the nickname "Ender"?

Next LeBron. Absolutely amazing. I just hope he doesn't go to UK so they have 1 team that can compete with them next year.

His game is off the charts, best I've seen in a long time.

He is technically supposed to be class of 2014 but reclassified to get into college a year sooner, (ala Nerlens Noel). Saw him play a couple of weeks ago down the street from me and he was smooth. He is by far the best HS player in the country.

As he should. He's sitting on a lottery ticket that he can't cash yet. I'd live in a glass bubble if I had a payday like his coming.

Quicker than fast I think but he's got potential.

Seriously talented kid. Looks like he's got more hops than Lebron. A year of college isn't going to hurt him. He's still just playing high schoolers.

Where is he expected to go? I know the big names but don't really follow basketball recruiting

He doesn't need college.

^This.

It's somewhat of a pet peeve of mine that so many people feel these kids need to go to college. I completely understand the notion, but feel it's a utopian feeling. Let the kids give it a try and if the NBA fails, they have connections and opportunities from that. I feel very strongly that college bball should go the route of college baseball. Either enter the draft right outta high school or go to school for at minimum 3 years. I have no problem with him going pro and think he could succeed in the pros. He's incredible.

Hold the phone on the Lebron comparison though...

Also, anyone know if Michigan State has offered?

Depends what his personal goals are. If he's only about basketball then he should just head straight to the bigs IMO.
