Anyone else suprised that Koyack i bigger than Niklas? Niklas 6'6.5" 259 pounds, Koyack 6'5" 261. I vote we put em both out there and hand it off to Big Lou at 6'2.5" 357. 3 yards... scratch that, 8 yards, and a cloud of dust.

He'll be our Javorski Lane. I like it.

The dude is just an organism fighting and striving to endure! Hopefully this winter/spring/summer he's learning to love that pain a lil' bit more! haha, seriously one of the funniest speeches I've heard at a pep rally. Love this guy after listening to that! Combine that w/ Shembo's and Dicky V- it was an epic day (we'll leave out the Manti part for now ;) )

NDDomer and I were standing there looking at each other when he made that speech. It was kind of like, "Do you think he is serious?" "No man he must be kidding," and then he tore his shirt off! That was some really funny shiit!

From ITI. What was it exactly that had the staff move him to TE, a lack of depth there? I'm not second guessing the move, just curious. With his measurables, he'd make a helluva pass rushing DE wouldn't he? Bigger, stronger and likely faster than a certain Lynch character that donned the Blue and Gold for a year (not saying he had the inate pass rushing ability that Lynch had, just comparing physically). Thoughts?

Niklas could be next great Irish tight end | Inside the Irish

This is video is from last year but I don't ever recall seeing it. Go to 1:54 and watch through the end. Niklas flips the sled twice haha

lol, I love Eifert's reaction to the 2nd flip. He was like "c'mon man, that's unnecessary".

And this year he is twelve to twenty pounds heavier, faster, and can catch the ball. Small defensive backs, watch out.

Actually, this may be the prototype for the "small 4-3 linebacker" assassin. This kind of guy may obsolete a whole defense.

Catch a TD, or few...

Then you'll be loved.

Lol, this is ridiculous. He played behind the best TE in the country last season and played defense the year before that. This guy is already loved and IMO is going to be a huge (literally) contributor this year.

worst outing last year : Stanford, chase Thomas made him look silly again and again

best play: Tommys td to him against bc

all i needed to see to know he will be a weapon. the blocking will come: he has the right attitude regardless of physical ability. but he has that too;)

This ΔΔΔ
IMO he could easily become TR's security blanket and have a monster season

If you watch that sled thing, it is not a matter of just strength, or just leverage. It is both in concert. This guy has a rare combination of abilities. Backs are going to have to climb him, to defend against him, which is going to lead to penalties, and frustration. Then they are going to use him in concert and opposition with other receivers . . . It is going to be ridiculous. How do you defend against him, with Daniels, CJ, Carslile and any of the others that could be on the field at the same time?

As far as blocking goes, Niklas reminds me of Cave. As Kelly said: When Braxton blocks you, you stay blocked; we just have to get him to block the right guy.

I remember Kelly saying at the time Niklas was moved to D that he had to overrule Diaco, who was not in favor of the move. Kelly's rationale was that he wanted a dominant in-line blocker at TE to help in the running game and pass protection. As someone else pointed out, Niklas was not that last year ... Chase Thomas made him look silly in the Stanford game. But Kelly said after the Stanford game that Niklas has all the physical tools (some schools recruiting him were considering using him as an OT), and as soon as he gets his lower body strength up, he will be a force as an inline blocker. Niklas is 10 pounds heavier this season, and I'm hoping that 10 pounds represents the increased lower body strength that Kelly was talking about.

Somewhere urban meyer is drooling at the thought of this.

Wasn't the Stanford game an aberration though? I thought he was a dominant blocker for most of the season and can remember Mayock singing his praises on several occasions, even as he continuously got beat by that All-American Thomas.

Personally, I wish he had stayed on D for the simple fact he'd be fun to watch. Outside of Clowney, there may not be a more impressive physical specimen in the country.

Saw a clip today of Clowney pushing the sled over like NiK did last year.
