Great interview! Impressive kid.

From the Interview:

Question: "Why do you want to play D in college?"

. . .

Jay Hayes: "Just the feeling when you hit a quarterback and he hits the ground and he is pain . . ."

Hehe, awesome.

Looks like he has the frame to be a 300 lbs or more, he is a fat guy (with all my respect). Tuitt has a more lean frame with low body fat.

Lots of time to shape that body the right way until he potentially sees the field for ND. Besides, if he does play interior, there is nothing wrong with some extra baggage.

Cause.

#249 in the rivals 250. Too low

Effect.

A good conditioning program, a brolic attitude, and a good senior season will solve that. Of course, ND doesn't care where he is rated, as long as he competes to his abilities.

Do want.....Would be an excellent NG. A position we NEED. Should be taking 1 every year. 4 total on the DL every year. Give me two ends, a nose and a cat LB that can put his hand on the ground. Counting Hayes (if he stays committed), my wants for the rest of the class are:

NG Khairi Clark - in the lead group
DE Malik McDowell - Possibly lead over UM, will be a battle with them and tO$U
Cat Andrew Williams

Best DL haul since Tuitt, Lynch and Ishaq, IMO.

Have I missed something? Is Hayes already wavering?

It was reported he'll be at UCONN's junior day. I just feel like he might be a kid that ND has to keep recruiting through signing day. If a kid is taking visits he's not 100%. And to STL - not sure that the numbers will allow ND to take 6 up front but you never know. I know that II said they were looking at taking 10 Power players. 4-5 OL is a must. 5 maybe 6 DL/Cat prospects seems to be the number. But as we all know, this staff likes to take players and shuffle their positions. Really makes Hayes intriguing because of his versatility.

Are you saying we should take 1 every year that way we have 4 on the roster every season? Taking one every year would amount to much more than just 4 on the roster.

...What visit or visits are scheduled for Jay?

A commitment doesn't mean you can eve stop recruiting a kid. Especially one that Committed as a junior in high school. All Notre Dame has done is given other schools a target.

Why, hasn't it since been reported he wont be at UConn's junior day? To me he seems like the type of kid that ND constantly get, he's always talking about ND on Twitter and fell in love with the place having not even visited yet.

Someone said in a different thread that Jay hasn't visited ND yet. Anybody know if that's accurate?
