I still can't figure out how a boner comment is okay and a pussy comment isn't? After all he had one on each shoulder, which counts as being up to your ears in it, doesn't it?

Holy $#!+ did I miss something. Post get deleted? Who's up to his ears in it. Are you talking about me again. I thought I deleted all those pics.

I don't think we are desperate for a second RB, nor are we filling a spot for the sake of filling it. The staff thinks that Bryant and Folston are both quality football players who would be excellent in our offense, and when they have a shot at guys like that they want to get them in the program. If we miss on either or both, we won't go after a three-star project ... that would be "filling a spot just to fill it." The reality is we don't need anybody at RB this year, with Carlisle, McDaniel, Atkinson and Mahone all with multiple years of eligibility remaining. But at such a key position you'd like to get at least one every year and we aren't going to pass up quality football players.

I disagree that we are going after both because they are distinguishable players who will fill different roles. Bryant may be a bit more developed physically, but both are shifty RBs who show the potential to be great receivers as well as great RBs. Same with Isaac -- even though he is huge, he has a lot of shake in the open field, as you can see when you watch his tape, and he has great hands. Guys like that, guys like Theo (Bryant and Isaac are more than that -- Theo with size), are rare enough that we want to take them whenever we can get them. Such players are right behind mobile passing QBs like Everett and Kiel as THE players who make our offense work.

I agree with you here for sure. It doesn't seem to me that the staff has much interest in recruiting skill players - hell, nearly any player - that they don't deem versatile. Not only does this help with flexibility on finding the best fit for the player's strengths, but it allows ND to shift players around and not get so pigeonholed looking for specific positions on offense.

Folston would certainly be a valuable add to the team. I in no way, shape, or form want to lose a stud, versatile running back, especially one from a recruiting hotbed like Florida. Folston will bring a lot to the offense. But like you alluded to, and like many have said before, the staff has loaded the position group with such flexibility that they can cross train them all on having dual roles. I know LAX brought up earlier that the staff will have three years left of eligibility of Amir. So unlike other certain recruiting losses in the past, this one doesn't especially bind the team if they lose out.

His post auburn visit interviews are strange to me. He raves about the visit and their coaches. States that he is still committed to ND but we'll make a decision on NSD. More and more kids are doing this. Not sure why you'd commit to one place when you not completely sure you want to be there.

To save a spot for yourself? I also wouldn't be surprised if many of these kids are genuinely 95% sure when they commit, but they've got millionaire salesmen trying to plant seeds of doubt in their minds all the time. 95% chips away into 65% sure, and suddenly taking your last couple OVs "just to make sure" starts to make a lot of sense. These are unsophisticated high school kids, after all.

Most do it to save a spot. I like school A but I'm intrigued by school B. I'm not going to decommite from A until I'm sure about B. Obviously its up to the coaching staff to make sure they're not left holding the bag come signing day.

To confirm, BK DOES have his in-home visit available. When he visited TF, he visited him at his school, and not his home.

Where / how are you confirming this? Just asking because there is still a ton of discrepancy on it, and most sites report the opposite.

To be honest I don't think he sticks. His relationship with the Auburn RB coach and ability to get on the field quicker will be the reason he leaves us.

But I hope I'm wrong

I get the feeling that NSD is their last harrah before many of them sink into red-shirts and third on a depth chart in some cases. it really shouldn't bug them that their school continues to recruit at their position. News flash...next year I believe the coaches will again try to land the best at each position...and the year after that. The one thing that I think really appeals to them is early playing time and can understand the "tug" of such a promise.

Bingo.
Teenagers change their minds. Rival coaches certainly try to help them do it. We use similar tactics to persuade them not to. I don't blame them for being indecisive. And frankly, if they're not certain, they're far better off taking those visits and getting certain than signing somewhere and regretting it. It's a pretty big decision.
That said, when a kid says "I'm committed, but I'll make my final decision on Signing Day," he's not committed in any meaningful sense of the word. At best I'd call him a Notre Dame lean.

Thanks guys. I had asked Sapp personally a couple of days ago and he wasn't sure. Glad this is cleared up. BK having an in-home makes me feel much better about our prospects of keeping him.

Couldn't agree more. That said, if the staff still wants him I'm sure they're (dshans) working hard.

Wiltfong says there is good news forthcoming on BGI pertaining to Alford, Folston and Bryant.

What a relief. Folston sounded really high on Auburn in the 247 update. But it WAS an update on Auburn's 247 site, and you can never tell when players are just being nice because they know what a reporter wants to hear. I'm cautiously optimistic while we await more info.

Is worth speculating what that "good news" might be?

Oh, I'm assuming it's that Alford spoke with Folston and solidified his commitment to ND. Wiltfong didn't say, but what other good news could there be involving those three?

That's all we need to hear. Folston is going to have a fantastic career. His instincts are off the charts. I spent the most time on his film and he makes plays whereever he is on the field...OFF, DEF, ST's. His flirtation with Auburn has tensed me up. Looking forward to Feb 7th when he is Irish!

Vanderdoes called Folston to say he is committing to ND
