It would make sense if they revealed in that last call that they were blackmailing him, but according to what is coming from Nd's side, Teo figured out it was a scam; he wasn't told.

If there is no name attached then it's worthless to me.

Jack also said there were multiple "characters" in the hoax and it's unclear how many "actors" there were. We know there was at least one male (Tuiasosopo) and one female (fake Lennay on the phone) involved but there was also a fake brother, fake mother, fake friends etc. We don't know how many of them were "played" by Tuiasosopo and fake Lennay versus how many other "conspirators" might be acting as different characters.

Kind of along these lines, my understanding from what Swarbrick said is that Manti's FIRST inclination when he heard from "resurrected Lennay" was that Lennay WAS real and really died, and that the hoax was this new person claiming to be her "alive." Only after investigation did Manti figure out that she never existed in the first place.

That's true, but the most critical piece is the girl. We find her and prove that there was actually a fake Lennay, and the other pieces fall into place. That's how all the ****ing great scripts go, and if this isn't a great script I donno what is. It's a national mystery right now.

It still shocks me that anyone would keep that as part of the story for so long. "80% true?" The **** is that?

Especially when the news media is supposedly doing such sould searching right now about not checking their stories all the way through..

Insanity.

It's the perfect "I'm lying" percentage. Something like 99% sure and you have no plausible deniability when it turns out to be false. You're a liar. If you say 50% it's not worth reporting because it may or may not be true. 80% means "print this in your paper" but when you get caught you can say "well there was always a 20% chance I was mistaken."

unless the men in the tuiasosopo family step up and make things right, the tuiasosopo name has been publicly humilated on the level that Manti has been humilated.

The tuiasosopo family name, to me, used to mean a group of football players that were never superstars, but who were able to make a career in the NFL(respectable). Now the name takes on a different connotation.

now the name is just usc-affiliated trash.

Just out of sheer morbid curiousity I went to ESPN and checked out the comments section...while I saw the usually majority of haters of all things ND chirping, I did see a lot of: ESPN posted the stories of Manti/LK last year and you all believed them then even tho they were wrong...so why believe everything they say now?

And the the Sportsnation crap poll about involved or not at 51% yes, but a plurality still say they want their team to take him first round

The 12PST thing was a "statement" from the fake Lennay twitter account, which was a comment about how Alabama doesn't think Manti Te'o exists.

Manti was supposed to interview one-on-one with Jeremy Schaap (no date/time announced I don't think) but that was cancelled by ESPN I believe.
