This just affirms for me that I too will be at the coliseum in 2012. Like I was in 1988 but this time instead of Frank Stams blowing up Rodney Peete it will be Manti Te'o knocking Barkley into next week!

What's with all the fear and bs of that nature? Doesn't anyone want to watch our team beat Barkley?? WTF?

It's not like we have no chance at winning that game.. I'm glad he's coming back.

100% agree with this. Beating them will make it that much sweeter.

..and we play them in late November. In year three of Kelly's system with mostly Kelly's guys.

Excuse my French but whining and screaming about having to face him for another year makes one sound like a pu$$y.

Edit: I'll be campaigning for internet tough guy of the year in 2012

It will be so much sweeter to ruin their title hopes now that he has returned.

Fu#K Barkley, McDonald, and Kiffin.

Bring It.

This is great for college football, and why it is a relative close #2 to the NFL in terms of popularity.

College basketball has become unwatchable because the elite talents are 1 or 2 and done in college. This will also bring down the NBA in time. You won't have those great talents that developed into great leaders under great coaches for 3 or 4 years in a college environment.

F Barkley, I say bring it on.

I hope Aaron Lynch tapes the newspaper clipping of Barkley at this press conference to his mirror and crumbles it up a la Rocky 4 before gametime.

You forgot the italics

Nah, he's had the same shtick everywhere he's gone and it works so freaking well it's unbelievable.

Step 1. Be as incredibly arrogant/confident as possible.
Step 2. Make excuses whenever you lose as to never appear "vulnerable" or "worse." Focus only on your team and give no credit to the other team. See: press conferences after losses to ND, Arizona State and Stanford.
Step 3. Never stop selling that you are the best and that everyone else sucks and if you go somewhere else you will fail and die poor, alone, and fat.

The result is coming off as the Yankees or the Death Star. While people like to root for the Rebel Alliance or Tampa Bay Rays to pull the upset... the truth is every PLAYER out there wants to be on the side of the unstoppable force.

What Kiffin has rolling right now is exactly what Charlie Weis was going for but came up short. The problem is if you don't meet expectations as the Yankees/Death Star/USC then the sharks swarm quickly. Here's to hoping USC tanks next year, but I personally imagine they'll be 11-0 heading into the ND game.

Kiffin and Haden are smart. They used this period where USC basically would be invisible not get any publicity from them not being in a bowl game. Now the whole country is talking about them and it gets into recruits ears.

Very well put,

I had actually never taken the time to find out Kiffies shtick, but from how you summarized it, it makes complete sense.

Hypothetically then, if they were to do well next year, then continually decline (due to the sanctions) how long until Kiffie gets eaten alive?

Well, it may not be the best news for ND, but candidly, I find it refreshing when student athletes ala Manti, Luck, and Barkley make the decision to stay and support their respective schools. All of these guys are well-grounded and have very supportive familes....coincidence?

Our secondary will have plenty of experience by the USC game

Really? How many starters do they lose next year on offense? Because we'll be taking a step back without Floyd. I have no faith that our corners will be able to take one or both of those guys down.

Then again Crist won't be around to fumble on the one.
