I believe in an interview he said when he got his results back he didn't even read them because his decision was already made. So glad he has his priorities in line and that he chose not to read the results

I questioned Nix for a long time. He came in really overweight, being homesick came up a lot, and didn't seem to have a real drive early in his career. Not sure if it was the leadership of guys like Kappy and Teo that got this kids head focused in the right direction or the coaches, mother, self motivation, etc; but whatever it was was crutial to this teams success. This guy has been such an intrical part of the nations best defense. Another year and a degree will go a long way for his future. Thank you Irish Chocolate.

As much as I hate to give props to Rick Reilly, this article on Big Lou is really good. His personality comes shining through, and I laughed out loud a couple times. He also takes a little shot at SEC academics. Enjoy.

Louis' mom.
So she'll be there in South Bend next November, even if they have to wheel her out on the field. See, she needs two new knees, but without any health insurance, she can't afford it. Nix says he plans to pay for it as soon as he turns pro, so now she's just going to have to wait a year.

"I've hopped around this long," she scoffs. "I can keep hopping."

Some nights, he slaps on a "Saw" mask, goes out on the Notre Dame campus, jumps out from behind bushes and scares students. When a 330-pound nose guard leaps out at you, your pancreas tends to leap out of you. One poor girl cried. "I've had campus police called on me," Nix admits.

Two weeks ago, he asked Kiah what she wanted for Christmas.

She held his hands, looked into his eyes, and said, "A ring."

Nix's nonstop mouth suddenly ... stopped.

This is the one Senior day moment I look forward to the most next year. Big Lou coming out to see greet his mom. She sounds like a great person. Will truly be a "Manti" type moment.

Agree. I've never been to South Bend for a game. Really wanted to get there this year for senior day, but couldn't do it. I'm already eyeing up next year's senior day, largely to see this special momemnt between Big Lou and his mom.

I read that whole thing (and loved it) and didn't realize it was Rick Reilly until I saw it on here.
