And another site is reporting that the visit went really well and that they have a source who is "95%" sure that Redfield will recommit to USC. The mod isn't so sure about that, but does say that USC did very well for itself and they are definitely back in the race, but he won't say how likely a recommitment is until he speaks to Redfield himself, and Redfield has gone quiet (so far).
So.....who knows?
I will say this though...GB was texting about the Redfield weekend, and I told him that I fully expected USC to get back into the race. They do a REALLY good job on their OVs, and they show the parents everything they need to see and then they show the players a helluva good time at night. They start all of the families first night atop a building at L.A. Live (where the Staples Center and the Nokia Theatre and ESPN Zone, among many other places, reside) overlooking Los Angeles, and they go from there. Talk all the crap about USC and Kiffen you want, but they know how to put on official visits. The recruits that were there this weekend have been raving about their time at USC (Hawkins already called Oregon, where he was going to visit, and said thanks but no thanks).
So the big thing for me this weekend was that Hawkins doesn't re-commit. If he comes out of this weekend with ND still in it, I think we're good. The shine of the visit will wear off, and then the school he truly wants to go to will stand out to him in the end. And that could very well be Notre Dame (I think it will be). But if he commits to USC again in the next couple of days, while I wouldn't call it over, I'd call it 90% over, and that will suck, obviously.
His comments will be very telling. His silence could be even more telling...
