He seriously had a 13 game losing streak?

I believe that was at the very beginning of his tenure. He's had a really good run at Iowa, all in all. THey're down right now after a crap ton of injuries, particularly to running backs, over the past few years.

I don't see Wisconsin hiring someone without Head Coaching experience, even if his name is Diaco.

Cal on the other hand would have to be intriguing for both sides.

The Cal job is for suckers. They have to recruit head to head with USC, Stanford (who has them beat on their academic strengths as well as football), a surging UCLA, Tosh Lupoi and Washington, and Oregon who will be the cool kids on the block even after Chip Kelly leaves.

The team was mired in awfulness until Tedford. Mediocrity will be a tall task there and they're not likely to thank you for it.

Are you crazy!?? Cal is sitting in one of the most fertile recruiting bases in the country, you have a brand new stadium, and a school with great academics (but don't have trouble with admissions) and tradition.... They also have sweet uniforms.

The Cal job is fantastic. Not to mention there isn't insane pressure to win a NC tomorrow like other big programs.

What is the hold up with Diaco getting his raise? ND needs to back up the Brinks truck to Diaco's bank and start unloading cash by the cart full until Diaco accepts.....you dont want Freddy Krueger pissed off at you....

Monte Kiffin is/was getting paid 1.5 million/yr. ...jus' sayin'

Is anyone concerned that if Robert should leave that he could take Cooks and/or Elliott with him? Obviously if BK offered Cooks the DC position he would most likely stay. Just a thought. Sorry if some one has already brought this up in the past couple of days, but I haven't been on as much.

Yes, it's a small cause for concern. Though, as you noted, BK could keep Cooks pretty easily if he wanted, and Elliot has a strong connection with Cooks as well. Also, much like Hiestand, Elliot purportedly was looking for a place to settle down and retire from when he moved here. I doubt he's itching to move again.

@MileHighPharmer:

Posted in the other thread, but a plausible, worst case scenario for ND fans.
Never happen. Diaco has been to Iowa. I was there once and I am never going back, and Diaco is smarter than I am.

Whoever put Bob Diaco in the 2013 commit list, I applaud you.

Been asked a few times if Bob Diaco leaving #NotreDame would affect recruiting. My thought was that it would have a very minimal impact ...

... So I've checked with a few defensive commits. Asked one if it would make him reconsider. Response: "Excuse my language but hell no"

I knew he wasn't going to BC....that would have been a terrible situation for him. I think he is safe at ND for now. He will get a head coaching job in the next few years though

Was trying to make this point earlier. I'm a little torn, because I love Diaco and selfishly want him to stay for as long as possible. But ultimately, if he wants a head job (and I think its pretty obvious he does), I want him to get it. And whenever that time is, its going to be at this juncture of whatever season it happens to be. So all of this freaking out is much ado about nothing, IMO. It would create some turbulence, but I think if he had left this year he would still have coached in the NCG (then used that as his #1 recruiting pitch to put together his class in the month following the game). And nothing was happening to this class.

I totally understand the Diaco love, but for that reason I do want to see him eventually have his own success. And I am 100% convinced that his personal success won't be to our detriment.
