you guys really think Neal will lock down the Slot position next year? Im not so sure! I could see a strong competition for that spot if Cam or Amir get reps there.

I was thinking that if Treadwell did decide to come and he won a starting spot it would be at the expense of Neal. I think they might shift TJ to the slot and go with DD, Treadwell and TJ, if Treadwell was good enough to win a spot. Neal would probably see a lot of time but it seems like Kelly has no problem with having a steady eddy as the slot.

Treadwell could start but I have my doubts. Learning the offense and trust in blocking would be the two biggest roads to cross. Until you know the offense well you are limited to a few plays you excel at (i.e. deep routes for Brown) and Kelly has shown he will take you off the field and put in someone else if blocking is needed (Daniel Smith). Treadwell will certainly PLAY, but being labeled a STARTER, not so sure. Let's hope he isn't worried about pointless things as being labeled a starter.

This is dead-on. But let's hope the lack of superstars on the depth chart is enticing.

Here is my take on DD, and some people might scoff at it: I think DD was a little scared of D1 competition, the spotlight, the physicality, etc. Watch his interviews from last spring until now. I always thought he looked like a dear in headlights, and he is only now starting to lose that look.

He has Tier 1 talent, but he went to a high school where he was a ton better than everyone else. He also has an NFL father, so I think people expected him to be tougher than he really was.

Long story short, I think it is all about swagger with DD. Just like Ishaq Williams stops thinking so much and just starts playing all out, WATCH OUT!

I agree with your conclusion, but the first sentence is nonsense. Scared of D1 competition? Are you kidding me? The kid was learning a new offense, learning how to run routes, block, etc. His mind was swirling. But, I strongly doubt he was ever scared.

BK also said DD has been dealing with minor lingering issues all long. The kid has still played hard every game and come up big alot. There is no scared in this kid. He is a competitor.

Lol! Not trying to create any controversy. I saw similar body language with Cierre Wood. He ended up fine.

It has nothing to do with being a competitor. Some kids just seem to embrace the pain, and some kids seem to have serious nerves. They just need to get hit a few times and break a few big plays to get their confidence.

Collinsworth is a kid with a glimmer in his eye, and he plays better than his talent from day 1. Golson seems to check out after mistakes, but he also seems to have no fear once the whistle blows. Every kid is different, and they are all competitors.

There was also a point last year where RIddick seemed to have lost his confidence and was just not himself in interviews.

I get what you are talking about. I think it's not so much fear of competition as anxiety about not living up to expectations. Cierre definitely had that issue, as Kelly recognized. In 2010 I remember Kelly addressing the matter at a press conference, saying something like, there's nothing wrong with Cierre except that he tries to win the Heisman on every play. I hadn't noticed it in Daniels but you may be right. It is always hard for a player to redshirt, and players react in different ways.

i remember in Cierre's sophmore year when he was on kick returns he was very very tentative and then was replaced. This was comparison to Theo who at that stage had a year of experience and relished the role.

i always look at what the team will look like in the recruits junior and senior years at ND not their fresh and soph as far as comparing them to guys already here and how they all stack up.

I also seem to remember that Cierre would take a long time to get up after hits, like he was visibly in pain. That stopped and he started dishing it out instead.

OT: Do you remember how Robby Parris would kind of jog back to the huddle when he missed a catch. That used to drive me crazy. But then his senior year, he became this rock solid, all-business role player. Or how Robert Hughes danced in the pocket his Sophmore and Junior year (and even the beginning of his senior year). Or how Jonas Gray eventually realized that he was 230 lbs and ran a 4.4 40yd. The pointis some kids need some time before it all clicks.

Yep dead on i remember that too. Its sad to think that Cierre really only scratched the surface of his potential at ND on the field, reminsd me so much of Darius Walker. Im hoping he lights it up in the Pro's for sure and wish him the best if saturday is indeed his home game.

I think the reason Cierre never got to what we thought he would be, was because he never really understood the message BK was sending him. RB's are a dime a dozen in the pros and aren't the sacred cow they used to be. He has the tools, he will just need to put on the hard hat, grab his lunchbox and work as hard as he possibly can.

I have no information but I highly doubt this is a commitment. He has cancelled a lot of his official visits and has said that he was going to wait until after the season to take them. What would have change in the last week or two. Has he made a visit some place in that period of time I'm not aware of? Oh and Sherm that post has me rolling this morning.

From the last tweets I saw from him, he seemed to be very pro OU. I hope that he was just hyping them up to keep everyone off of his choice. This kid has stud written all over him and I really hope he adds his name to our list of studs already on board! With this kid I will not be shocked whichever school he lands at.

He retweets EVERYONE, I wouldn't put too much stock in a couple tweets. IMO he doesn't announce anytime soon and the "big news" isn't about a commitment, but I could be wrong.

For me to be thinking we get a commitment from Quon on Thursday we would have had to get him on campus recently. Just my opinion.

So in that video Josh Hemboldt sounds extremely confident that he wouldn't be commiting anywhere until he takes his visits. Now the tweet from Treadwell probably came after that feature was put together but I still feel the same way about this. Will take all 5 visits first then decide.

Better that then commit without visiting then decide you want to take your visits...... Oh wait...
